Shortly after reaching adulthood, Goldscale had been infected with an incurable illness. His waking nights spent coughing, his days spent in a disease clouded haze. He knew he'd been called to serve the Plaguebringer from that day, and when he told his parents of his intention to leave to the Scarred Wastelands, he could never have known his sister would volunteer herself to go with him.

Now a sage for Asuna's burgeoning successes, Goldscale represents the clan to their incoming visitors and leads them in their services to the Plaguebringer. It is through his advice that Asuna's victories go so noticed, as he seems to have some form of direct line to the goddess's wants. The hatchlings grow here in the hopes they will one day be chosen to harbor the same infection the guardian does, so that they may be his apprentice.
