Many years ago, they said two would come. One, the greatest, kindest, and most noble dragon to ever live. The other, the manifestation of evil, corruption, and pain. The only problem? For an unknown amount of time, the two would be indistinguishable.

When Lacey was born, she had no idea what was coming to her. To her, and her brother Lance. After they were suspected to be the two to fulfil this centuries-old prophecy, their clan, out of fear, abandoned them both at the bank of a river, hoping that the one they had learned to await since childhood would destroy the one that had haunted the nightmares of hatchlings for centuries. Of course, all Lacey knew was being left alone, only a few hours old with her brother, and whatever monstrosities lived in that dark land they were left to fend for themselves in. As the elder of the two, her natural instinct was to protect Lance, whatever the cost.

And, soon, that cost was discovered to be much higher than expected. After only a few hours, a hideous monster jumped out at the hatchlings. In an attempt to protect her brother, Lacey jumped between Lance and the monster, which left her with a life-draining wound across her small, fragile body. The monster fled as Lacey was left, barely conscious, bleeding on the ground. As such, she had no idea of knowing how she ended up in a warm nest, hearing faint conversation. She opened her eyes just enough to see the three dragons before her.

The soft, rough voice of a purple-winged Imperial said "I know, I know. We can't leave them now."

Then, the kind, almost musical voice of a yellow-ish Skydancer, "I'll fetch Delilah, she'll know what to do."

Then, the quick, jovial voice of an orange Wildclaw said, "No, no, Alina, you know how she gets when she's bothered." Beside him lay a dark-colored Skydancer with a red underbelly.

The first Skydancer, the one that the Wildclaw had called Alina, then spoke up again, "Oh, look, she's awake!"

Lacey froze with fear. Her eyes had been barely open, but she was clearly not asleep. Alina came over to where Lacey had been laid down. Lacey tried to get away, but just barely shifting was enough to send shockwaves of pain through her entire body. She cried out, but Alina gently placed a claw on her face.

"It's alright," she said. "You and your brother are safe now."

It was just then that Lacey realized Lance was nowhere to be seen. How had she not noticed until now? What had these dragons done to him? What-

"Hey, hey," Alina said, "I see that got a reaction out of you. Don't worry. Your brother is with the other hatchlings of our little clan. We just put you over here because you were hurt, that's all."

Now, Lacey realized her body was wrapped in cloth bandages, With difficulty, she said, "L-Lance, Lance..."

"Oh, is that his name," asked the Imperial, "He wouldn't say."

"W-where...is he?" Lacey choked out.

"Settle down little one," said Alina, "save your breath, like I said, he's with the other hatchlings. Oh! You're probably wondering who we are and where you are. Well, I'm Alina,as you might of guessed, that's Jiro," She pointed at the Imperial. "That's Auburn" She pointed at the WIldclaw, "And that's Auburn's mate, Esmerelda." She pointed at the other Skydancer. "Auburn was scouting when he found you and your brother."

Auburn responded, "Yeah, that's what happened."

Just then, a small Coatl hachling came running out from behind one of the stone walls of the cave system. He ran right up to Alina and said, "Mommy, mommy! Daddy said you should come take a turn with us!"

Alina sighed, "Oh Lighteyes," she said under her breath, barely loud enough for Lacey to hear, "Alright Bryo, baby. I'm coming," she addressed Lacey, "You can come too. Come see your brother."

Lacey jumped at the idea, immediatly forgetting the pain. Once Alina led her behind the wall with the hatchling, Bryo, she first saw Lance...playing. While she didn't know the word at the time, she knew the concept. She also noticed quite a few other hatchlings of many breeds and colors. At the back was another Skydancer who quickly approached Alina and, in an uptight and polished voice, "Alina, thank you so much darling, these little ones are exhausting. Oh, is this the little one that was attacked? What's your name?"

"Oh! Yes baby, I didn't even ask your name! I'm sorry," Alina said.

"L-Lacey," she stammered, still confused by what she saw.

At that moment, Lance noticed her, and came running. "Lacey, you're ok! Come here! This is Eva!"

Just then, a blue fae hatchling ran over. Her voice was high, and she spoke quick, "Hi! You're Lance's sister right? Oh! I wasn't supposed to say that in front of the grownups. Sorry..." She looked down for a moment, then continued, "Well, come on! Do you want to play with us?"
