Biography
Uh-oh, looks like this headstrong girl wandered a little too far from her home lair , and now she's off to see the world! If ever you feel the need to exalt, she'd really appreciate it if you could just return her to the home lair, or to the 'Dragons Off To See The World' thread, here. This is not necessary, but she would be very grateful!
Magsys was tired of being told it was her duty to serve the Windsinger. That was what all the elders of the clan said. Her mother reminded her that it didn't have to be the Windsinger, it could be any deity. After all, her mother had originally come from a plague clan, and several of her children from her previous clan had gone off to serve different deities. Magsys' father had left the clan not long after her clutch had hatched, though she'd heard he'd undergone exaltation too. How depressing, there had to be more to life than serving the dragon gods! Her younger sister Stellaris had been allowed to leave the clan when she had decided against exaltation, but her youngest sister seemed resigned to her fate. Magsys wanted more though; being exalted may be a great honour, but it wasn't one she was ready for. She wanted to have children (it would be a crime to dragon-kind not to pass these genes down, after-all), she wanted to visit other flights. She wanted to change her name, although she hasn't decided what to yet.
Perhaps, she thought, as she pushed against a headwind; perhaps the dragons of Arcane would grant her solace from that fate. She'd heard of scholars who dedicated their lives to unravelling the secrets of dragons adorned in starmap and constellations. Not recently of course, it had surged in popularity when the genes started appearing on dragons, but if they were still to exist, then in the star-struck lands of dreamers would be where she'd find them.
The land beneath her seemed to twist and turn, seeming too close in one eye and too far in the other; she tried to not look, but... She wobbled to a landing, keeping her eyes shuttered tight against the weird lands.
"You look like you're going to be sick."
A loafing bogsneak, who introduced himself as Sorley, smiled a lazy, lopsided grin. She squinted at him, tail thrashing side-to-side as the off-balance nature of the land threatened to knock her over even as she stood.
"It passes eventually," he added, his fins flicking with what she might later learn to be held-back amusement. "In the meantime, do you want to come inside?"
"Inside... Where?"
"The school," he gestured with one brandished wing; a great carving on the side of the mountain, with runes that marked it as 'a house open to scholars, and to all wandering sorts.' Well... She was a wandering sort, she supposed.
She nodded. It would be fun, she told herself, to find out what kinds of things these arcane dragons got up to.
After a few days, she came to the conclusion that is bane to wind dragons across Sornieth: a lot of sitting, and reading, and not going anywhere. As much as that might appeal to some, it did not to her, so within a week she left again- though not before coming to acquire a few silks to adorn herself with. The bogsneak from before had brought them out, with a muttered something-or-other about how they matched her scales.
