Hera is, for all intents and purposes, the Queen of the Lair. It is her say who occupies which dens, whose duty it is to hunt or mind the nests, and which hatchlings are to be made tributes to the Shadowbinder. She is wise, if a bit shrewd, and has a propensity for collecting.

Her den is lined with glimmering jewels, bits of jewelry, and iridescent feathers. On occasion she will go out hunting for fireflies, simply to use their luminescent bodies as paint, both for her body and her den.

She was borne to the Tangled Wood on a breeze of curiosity, and ended up enjoying herself so much that she stayed the course, delighting in the chaos and mischief wrought by the Shadowbinder's ilk.
