Biography

Solar leaped at the fireflies around him in the darkness, but the one he was trying to catch quickly zoomed away. Solar fell onto the soft grass and leaped again, but his white scales and sparkling runes shone out in the darkness and the fireflies saw him. Solar tried again, managing to catch a small firefly who had not seen him this time, and carried it carefully back to a jar which they were trying to fill with fireflies. Solar noticed another firefly near a small tree, ran towards it, and leaped just in time. This time the firefly was unable to get away, and it was the same one as he had tried to catch before- it was the largest of all the fireflies around. Scholar, his brother, started reading a caption from the dictionary:
fire·fly
/ˈfī(ə)rˌflī/

noun
a soft-bodied beetle related to the glowworm, the winged male and flightless female of which both have luminescent organs. The light is chiefly produced as a signal between the genders, especially in flashes.
Solar ignored his brother and kept on catching the little tiny lights, then took the jar inside. It would make a nice light. Scholar followed him in, then held up something once they were inside. "I found something better than fireflies!" he said. "Nothing's better than fireflies." Solar informed his brother, but then noticed what Scholar was holding out.
It was a rattlesnake.
"Ooh! Cool, can we keep it?" Solar asked. "We should ask Grandma first." Scholar replied, then headed towards the kitchen where their grandmother was making dinner. "Can we keep this rattlesnake as a pet?" Solar asked. "Sure, as long as you remember to supply the house with mice for it to catch." their grandmother replied, reaching for the garlic salt above the stove. "YAY!" the two little dragons yelled happily.
