Biography
Matriarch
"Each breath unites into a gale"
Kessin is the founder of the clan and the unquestioned matriarch. She has devoted herself to overseeing and protecting the dragons that have gathered around her. Her personality is serious and fierce, but not harsh. Her duty to her clan is her life, and she has little interest in anything else. While not the strongest of her clan, she is known to be a nearly impenetrable force in the field of battle, and has sheltered those of her clan who are now its foremost fighters through their earliest struggles. It is her tremendous capability for inspiring loyalty that has kept her in undisputed lead of her clan, even as it has grown from the small collection of founding members in the Steppes to the sprawling, shifting, 100-member strong legion of the Cloudsong.
Back when her clan was new, Kessin would breed to help grow their strength and their numbers, but until recently, she has never had a mate, having been too concerned with running things to take the time. However, she isn't entirely sure how a passing interest in Imperial males turned into a generations-long quest to produce a mate that she would desire. Still, the Imperials joining her clan were strong, clever, and eagerly producing offspring that they were happy to relinquish to other clans, or into the service of the Windsinger in Kessin's name. And, if pressed, she might admit that the gesture was flattering - not to mention the impressive success of the results. She is quite fond of Quetzal, though she still has trouble thinking of him as anything but a baby, even now that he is fully mature (and nearly twice her length). Ironically, all that time spent crafting her ideal mate has ultimately made her hesitant to finally breed with him, as a small bit of vanity has made her want to perhaps try out a new gene or two, least she be out-shined by her handsome young mate. Ultimately, a new crystalline hide and a touch of smoke cured this shyness.
