Sand's shop is housed in a back-alley two-story tavern, nestled among the trivial squabble of sooty blacksmiths and vendors hawking their wares. High class clientele travel from far and wide for his services, but the locals are barely aware of its existence. The best-kept secret of Sunbeam scholars and Arcane magisters is, to the people of Blacksand, a mere oddities shop run by a disdainful mage.

He himself is a short, unassuming male with long black hair and wide eyes. He spends most of his day in his shop, toiling away with potionmaking or enchantment unraveling, retiring to his private room in the evening. His wry tongue is off-putting to most, though tolerated for his very knowledgeable and discreet counsel in magical affairs. His locale and confidentiality spur occasional rumors of black market connections, but there's never been an investigation.

His social circle is decidedly small, usually friends of circumstance. The obvious exception is his familiar, Jaral, who is always seen with him. His background is even more private than his social life, only illuminated through tangents and occasional dark humor. His cultured city accent and scholarly allusions point to a classical city education, but his past is otherwise a closed book. The enigma spices his reputation as a marvelous self-made talent sprung from nowhere, and he makes no effort to disagree.
