Blackriver Spirit

"You drown not by falling into a river, but by staying submerged in it."

Koreya isn’t actually a dragon. At least, she didn’t start out life that way. The being that appears to be a pearlcatcher actually started as an elemental spirit of an unusual black river hidden deep in the jungles. The dark waters are a strange anomaly, and the ecosystem around it hosts some unique creatures.

For a very long time, Koreya was safe and alone taking care of her little biosphere with dedication and love… but now dragons are starting to threaten the lands outside of her domain. As the population of Sornieth expands, more and more space is needed and explorers are moving further and further afield.

Watching these newcomers start to get closer to her precious, sacred home, Koreya was curious and frightened at the same time. In order to be prepared, she has taken a form to be able to study dragons and try to figure out a way to either coexist with them or make sure they never find her and her charges.

Koreya cast powerful illusions on her home, left a few of her more intelligent creatures in charge, and set out to get to know these beings who were encroaching upon her protectorate. The closest group she was able to find was, luckily, Chaotic Daydreams. The unusual denizens of the lair were fascinated by the new addition to their fold, and are happy to help her learn more about dragons in general.

In addition, the spirits of the lair have helped Koreya set up even more protections around her home while she is away from it; with the assurance that none will find and ravage the black river and its environs while she’s away, the spirit-turned-dragon will spend as much time as she needs figuring out the future from her safe second home.
