With a rustle of paper, the book opened. It was a journal, a notebook filled with sketches and comments scrawled in dark ink. Yet, one picture appeared to waver, the lines lifting delicately off of the paper as they coalesced in the air. . . as they became something new.

The ink took the form of a fox-like beast. A creature with bright eyes and several long tails flickering smoke-like behind it. It took the name Yokai, a timid and shy being that emerged from the pages of weathered books at night. Still, few have seen it in this form, for when they approach, it simply scurries back to the nearest book, leaping onto the pages. The ink dries once more, dark lines forming a sketch of a small fox upon the paper.
