SUBSPECIES LORE
Jackdaws descended from Magpie blood. They lack the distinct sleek patterns known to most of Crow-kind, and instead possess a more naturally mottled coupled with patches of white when in their natural state.
Similar to the common Jackdaw, they are often slightly smaller in size compared to their Crow cousins. Chimeral Jackdaws also possesses characteristics that may be passed down through their bloodline and inherit abilities through their lineage.
Unlike their Magpie ancestors, not all Chimeral Jackdaws are capable of full camouflage and cannot alter their entire appearance. In return, they might have inherited other Crow wing traits in their place, or even nothing at all. This leaves them even more severely disadvantaged in Crow society than they already are, and such individuals may prefer to settle their lives masquerading as a common Wildclaw instead.
Most Chimeral Jackdaws prefer to at least adopt the appearances of the trademark skink pattern and hide their patched bodies in order to fit in with their common cousins. It is rare for them to be able to change multiple traits, and it is entirely dependent on the traits of their wings.
Their rate of healing is much faster than common Crows, but less than that of their Magpie ancestors. They are quick to recover and their potential to wield a greater variety of abilities makes them extremely versatile both at home and in battle.
Due to the dominant nature of Magpie blood, even common Jackdaws themselves may feel threatened by their existence, as most times the next generation of hatchlings will take on these traits over existing common Crow blood. This often leads them to becoming excluded once their true natures have been discovered.
As with all things in Crow society, the ones with vibrant red feathers hold higher rank. Their plumage is considered both beautiful and far more beautiful than other colors. Red is in their blood, both literally and figuratively; and this saying encompasses all of Crows whether some care to openly admit it or not.
