The Exiled
The fae dragon known as Gem had a...interesting hatching to say the least. His egg was perfectly hatched into two pieces, something that is not a common occurrence for any dragon to see. To have two perfectly hatched pieces of a egg after hatching meant something was going to happen. Good or bad, no dragon knew what Gem was about to bring into this world. His parents were concerned for their son, as they believed that having a perfectly split egg at birth was a bad omen. Nothing good was to come to their son in his life. The rest of the clan didn’t think that Gem’s hatching was a bad omen. For they saw it as a sign that they were blessed by their deity known as The Windsinger (at least at the time they did). Gem was too innocent to know what actually was to befall his clan as he grew into an adult dragon. The clans elders saw his hatching as a great blessing for their clan and as they always do, they protect the most important dragons that held a great importance to their clan. The elders made sure that the strongest dragons available were able to protect Gem. Gem didn’t think any different about why he was surrounded by so many dragons as a young fae, but he didn’t dislike it either. As any baby dragon, he loved attention. And, getting attention he did. Though, it was in a bad way. As Gem grew up into adulthood, he noticed strange things that would happen when he was alone. He would hear strange whispering from inside his hollowed out tree den. He of course, didn’t think anything about it at the time. He just thought that it was the wind. It was always windy when here’d that’s strange whispering though. He tried to bring it up with his parents when they ate dinner one day, but they dismissed his questions. Though, they both shared a glance towards one another while eating dinner that day... The elders on the other hand, saw the whispering as a sign that the Windsinger was talking to Gem while he was alone. This was not the case. Gem soon started to have bad luck and started to sleep less at night then usual. At night he could be seen staring up at the sky looking at the moon with a weird obsession with them. The bad luck that soon started happening to him was that he was asked by the elders to communicate to the Windsinger. What he had contacted was an unknown entity that rested within him. At that point onward, the elders decided that it would be best if they sent Gem away. He was a danger to the clan It was on a moon lit night that the curse was in full force against Gem. He was the first ‘Weredragon’. He wasn’t himself on the last night when he was living with his clan mates. Gem found himself inside one of the elders den, looking over one of them before everything went red, before going dark. The following morning, he was to be exiled for the murder of one of the clan elders. He didn’t try to defend himself, for he was in to much of a shock. As when he woke up, he was covered in blood, with the body of an elder in their bed. When he became exiled, he didn’t travel much. He didn’t want to become something that he didn’t have control over. Especially when the moon is full. Though, he did eventually travel back to were his clan once lived, and found dragons like him, living in a clan that recently migrated from the Tangled Wood. All he hoped was that his curse of being a ‘Weredragon’ didn’t pass on when he and Vermiculo mated, he didn’t want the curse to spread. He was a monster to all dragon kind, that’s why he asked her if it was okay for their hatchlings to be sent to their deity when they grew up into adults. No one would have to suffer his curse. Gem’s mate is Vermiculo |
