The legend of Eagle

Before Eagle the land was covered in the poisonous clouds of the Cloud Bank. The land was abandoned by the gods and their children, unchartable by maps and impassable by people. Then the stars of Eagle came together and parted the clouds and allowed life to come back to the land. When the land was fertile they went to their cities and towns and asked if they wished to be away from the bickering of the other gods and the wars their alchemists waged against each other. They did.

And so the stars of Eagle gave to their followers an atlas that would chart a course across the land and through the Cloud Banks to this new land they had made. The cities and towns backed their bags, homes, and lives and in a great exodus followed the atlas into the inpenitrable Cloud Banks.

It took days for some to cross the wasteland and when they did they were greeted by the sight of their Gods, waiting for them, welcoming them to their new homes. The gods showed their followers the best places to settle to be closest to them. And so the provinces formed to each of the compass directions.

The atlases showing the way to Eagle were since lost, cast off by the worshipers, as they did not long to return to the world beyond the Cloud Banks. And so Eagle became isolated from the rest of the world, no one coming or going, and memory of what the world was like beyond the Cloud Banks faded into story and then eventually into the past. The people of Eagle don't desire to leave nor do they wonder what is beyond the Cloud Banks. The wars that embroil the country aren't those of other gods. Only their own.
