» BIOGRAPHY
Everyone knows that the Gladekeeper and Plaguebringer are rivals, but there is another rivalry deeper and less known. The Shadowbinder hates the Gladekeeper...

The Gladekeeper created a daughter for herself, crafting Arantxa from creeping vine, blooming flower and the pure essence of the glade. She adored her daughter, raising her in a life of comfort and happiness. She bragged about her beautiful daughter to all the other deities. They began to despise Aranxta, but none so much as the Shadowbinder...

One day, this pampered, nature touched hatchling was exploring. It was like any other day, Aranxta giggling as she bounded through soft grass, occasionally tumbling head over wings to sniff a flower. The bright sun floating in the cloudless sky above warmed her just perfectly. Everything knew she was the Gladekeeper’s child, the one with magic and power. The flowers bowed to her, dipping their soft petals as Aranxta passed.

Aranxta’s wandering had brought her towards a forest. Happily, she bounded through, watching as the ancient trees themselves bowed, creaking and groaning as she strode past. The trees seemed to darken, and the shadows curled menacingly around her, but the hatchling didn’t notice. Farther and farther she walked, as if in a daze.

She didn’t realize how much time had passed, the hatchling didn’t notice the shadows that swirled around mocking her at first. All she knew was a pull, luring her towards the tangled wood. Aranxta shivered, suddenly awakening from the spell. Everything inside her tried to run, to escape, but it was hopeless. She kept walking. Everything was dark and scary. Branches were monstrous arms reaching to grab her.

Aranxta broke out in a cold sweat, her shaking legs carrying her closer and closer towards...something. She was in a dark clearing, shadows filling the morbid scenery. Then, the Shadowbinder appeared in the darkness. Hate and anger filled her gaze.
“The little Nature prodigy has stumbled upon my lands,” She stepped toward Aranxta, smiling creepily. “You will take my gift, will you not?” She hissed in the hatchling’s ear.
“My Mother will save me.” Aranxta managed to say, shivering with fear.
“Hah!” Scoffed the Shadowbinder. And then the darkness enveloped Aranxta. She was falling into a void...there was nothing but darkness.

And then, Aranxta woke. She sat up slowly, her muscles tired and sore. She opened her eyes. But it was still dark. Panic filled her, and she reached up toward her eyes, touching nothing but dark goop leaking from her eyes.
She was blind.
Breathing heavily, Aranxta stumbled through the eternal darkness. She could smell a flower nearby, and dipped her head towards it. She realized that she was back in nature territory. Relief filled her, then came to a crashing halt as she felt the flower wilt. She’d killed it. Confusion and worry flooded her distraught mind.

As she continued stumbling along toward the center of nature, towards her mother, more flowers and plants wilted under her blind gaze. The cursed shadow goop killed everything it touched. With each death, Aranxta felt worse and worse. The only thing that kept her going was the thought that her mother could fix her.

After several more panic-filled minutes, Aranxta felt her mother’s presence, and relief filled her. She stumbled as fast as she could toward the Gladekeeper, but she was shocked when her mother pushed her away.
“What happened to you?” The Gladekeeper gasped.
“Th-the Shadowbinder cursed me! I-I’m blind…” Aranxta whispered.
“How DARE she...You killed my plants. The-that cursed goop murdered them…” The Gladekeeper was silent for a moment, but then she said quietly,
“I am very sorry Aranxta, but I can’t help you. And because of your-your curse, I’m going to have to,” Her mother paused, voice shaky.
“I’m going to have to banish you from all the lands of Nature. You are no longer my daughter.” The Gladekeeper finished, looking away sadly.

Aranxta stared, trying to understand what was happening to her. She was banned! Banned from her own home, her own birthplace. And the Gladekeeper had denounced her. There was no more purpose to her life. Aranxta gasped for air, turned and ran. Running away. Running somewhere, trying to get away, to breath, to think.

After a long time, she realized that she was in the tangled woods again. Panting, Aranxta coughed and continued stumbling across the dark world. She tore through hundreds of brambles, each one ripping her open. Hunger and heartbreak filled her, and she kept falling down. Finally, the hatchling found a cave. Aranxta slipped into the cave, shaky and weak. She pushed a few rocks over the entrance and curled up on the cold floor. She was so far away from warmth, from light, from anything beautiful. She wanted to die.

Painfully long seconds turned into minutes, which dripped into hours. Those eventually became days. Then weeks. Then months. Aranxta lay in the darkness, knowing and feeling nothing but the cold, damp rock, loneliness and darkness. Her soul was dim, her mind tired and depressed. She hoped that she’d waste away and be free from this awful world one day. Months crawled by, changing into years. There were many years. So many. Too many.

Years turned into decades. Decades into centuries. One century. Two centuries. Three hundred years. Aranxta lost count after that, stuck in the cold, black, dreary world. The Gladekeeper had probably forgotten about her. Aranxta tried to sleep away the eternal suffering, but she couldn’t.

Back in the Nature territory, the Shadowbinder’s plan had worked. The Gladekeeper had abruptly stopped bragging about her daughter, and the rest of the deities didn’t really care. The Shadowbinder never mentioned Aranxta, and memories of the hatchling faded. No one knows if the Gladekeeper remembers her daughter.

But Aranxta was tired of soundless darkness. Tired of the damp stones and hunger. So, after so many years had passed, the starving hatchling stumbled out of the cave. The warmth of the sun on her fur made her smile, and she stood there in blissful silence, ignoring everything else. But when her stomach growled, she stopped and continued stumbling through, worried that the next step might kill her. She wished she could see where she was going. But Aranxta continued, and soon she heard voices. Her heart soared, rejoicing that it wouldn’t be alone again, then plummeted. She didn’t know what to say.
“Hi, I’m Aranxta and I used to be the daughter of the Gladekeeper but now I’m cursed so yeah.” Didn’t really sound right. Aranxta sighed and continued walking. The voices were getting closer. She pushed her fear and anxiety down, and planned what she was going to say. She couldn’t be Aranxta anymore, and as much as it made her sad, she was going to have to change many things.

After several minutes of careful planning, Aranxta was ready. She was
Hidden now. The voices came closer and closer. Hidden could tell when they saw her, the pitiful, starving hatchling with goopy shadow eyes. Hidden opened her mouth, and said very slowly,
“I am Hidden, and I am looking for a clan to stay in.” She could hear them whispering, presumably about her. Then a voice said,
“You are welcome in the Clan of the Forgotten Souls”
Hidden’s heart beated wildly, but she remained composed.

And so Hidden came to live among mortals, forever lonely. Forever longing for her past life. She rarely talks, and those who mess with her (Few do) are quickly killed by her thorn-like claws and shadow goop. Don’t touch her goop.
