Ancient runes, swirling patterns,
glass echoes of a long-lost freedom,

Alone, forgotten, abandoned.
The words define him.
Have defined him.
Will define him.

Violet smoke, filling the air,
surrounding,
searching,
for something never to be found.

Never Again.

resounds in his mind,
a never-ending,
ceaseless,
always looping.

Encircling crystals,
refracting, reflecting,
the unfamiliar face,
staring him in the mirror.

Power, chaos, fighting.
Constant.
Always will be.

They never learn.

Have patience,
the meaningless words,
over over again.

All of them the
Same.
Both sides
like a broken record
replayed in the mirror,
over over again.

Run,

the voice inside him
echoes.

Seeing the satisfaction
in always repeating-
comforting,
safe,

Boring.

Escape from this.
power, chaos, fighting.

Meaningless.

so,
he runs.

he says, to the
concerned faces,
interrogative minds,
curious eyes.

Later.
he says.

Busy, busy,
constant moving,
echoes of a life before
fade away,

bit by bit.

Ideas swirling,
dreams and thoughts of
explosions of color,
underneath his eyes.

what did he give that up for
busy, busy,
constant moving,

when did he get so tired?
aching bones,
faking smiles,
wondering
what it's for

He'll get around to it.

endless waves,
boundless ocean,
an arrogant smirk,
dancing with the blade.

it's all about the
Motion,

the silver blur
leaving mere echoes
of the life long past
this young Sailor.

cut the binds,
finally set free.

looping, twisting,
twirling steel,
feeling seasalt
in the wind.

finally steady
shining in the moonlight

this is Home.

choking, suffocating,
was this his punishment?

for what,
can't remember,
surely something-

it's always something.

something wrong.
not good enough.

stumble-trip-
cover it up.

spin-fall-
cover it up.

sadness-sorrow-loss-
cover it up.

alone and mocked,
is this how it is?

how it always has been.
how it always will be.

echoes of the past
dance before him.
