Pelagic

Pelagic was born in the deep depths of the ocean, and is likely bioluminescent because of that. He is endlessly curious, and could barely be kept out of anything he wanted to investigate. When he grew older, he began exploring further and further away from the lair, until eventually the rest of the clan gave up trying to stop him and gave him some armor so he would be protected while exploring. He is the clan's official explorer, and when he is home, he often helps Clover with the scouting and Eldritch and Murky with their research.

Pelagic is not entirely aware of this, but the reason he hatched at the bottom of the sea is because a storm blew his egg out of the nest. By the time it was found, it had gone so deep that the clan was facing very real concerns about sudden changes in pressure damaging the unhatched dragon if they took it immediately to the surface. Instead, they contacted the pod of Maren that Marine and Benthos had befriended a long time ago, and asked them to watch over the egg for them. When it hatched, the Maren secretly guided young Pelagic back to the surface.

After joining a rescue expedition to a cursed island, he asked about the circumstances of his hatching, and the clan leaders explained what had happened. They weren't sure if hatching at such a deep depth would affect him at all, and wanted to play it safe, and they also wanted to keep their ties to the local maren pod a secret, as there's no telling how other clans would react to this knowledge. A few days later, Pelagic met a maren boy named Delta who had been present when Pelagic hatched, and the two became fast friends. Delta eventually taught himself some magic that would allow him to travel above the ocean, and insisted on tagging along on Pelagic's adventures after. The two have been inseparable since then.

Pelagic met a dragon named Antix when he joined a treasure hunting expedition. During the journey, Antix befriended some Maren, and Pelagic offered to teach him the maren language in exchange for permission to explore some shipwrecks in his clan's territory. They are rapidly becoming one of his favorite places to explore.
