ROMANO
THE SCOUT
___________
60545694.png
▬▬ ABOUT ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

Charismatic, sweet-talking, flirtatious, and a thrill-seeking thief. The dragons who meet him seem to either find him fun or utterly annoying to be around, with very little in-between. Unfortunately for the wildclaw, his employers think he's the latter. Perhaps even more annoying than his slimy charisma is his arrogance; Romano lives on the belief that he is attractive and charming. As much of a pain is he is, most dragons have to admit that Romano is good at his job. His charisma makes him an expert at coaxing information out of people, and he is an expert at staying undetected. His skills aren't what keeps him from being fired, though. Rather, it's his death-grip on Samhain's secrets.

▬▬ ORIGIN ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

Despite his official job as a scout, Romano has always been a thrill-seeker first and foremost, whatever that means for him. Though he mostly enjoys pulling off heists for fun, Romano also likes to blackmail others simply to see their shocked expressions and hear their desperate threats. When Romano first learned of Samhain's doubts with Adrienne, he immediately brandished it at his boss' throat and threatened to sell the information to the rebellion if she and Adrienne did not leave him to his own devices in the clan. While Romano could never compare to Samhain in terms of combat, he was always notorious for being exceptionally evasive. It was an incredibly risky move that could've cost his life, but Romano did it anyway and succeeded. Why would he risk his life like that? According to Romano, it's all about having fun. The look on Samhain's face when she realized he was trying to blackmail her was enough justification.

"Imagine my surprise when Siery told me the truth of this clan. As a habitual liar myself, I'm usually pretty good at recognizing other liars. If I didn't realize the truth until Siery told me... hm. The Fallen One sure is putting in the work to keep things under wraps, huh?"

"I don't doubt that my boss' sister could kill me on the spot. But she won't! I've insulted Samhain's pride so much to the point where she is determined to deal with me herself, even if there is a more logical option. How convenient! How irrational!"

▬▬ NOTES ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

» Flirts a lot with people, though mostly in a joking way

» Samhain assigns him really long scouting missions so she can see him as little as possible lol

» tbh he'd probably start drama for fun if his job didn't make him stay away from the clan for long periods of time

» A notorious escape artist, known to be able to enter massive heavily-guarded cities and leave without anyone knowing he was ever there.

» likes cats, but cats do not like him

ABOUT (CONT.)
[ WRITTEN BY ASTRAMARU
]

Samhain, oh Samhain!" Samhain's body tensed up immediately once she heard her name. She knew who was calling her by the voice, and she was less than thrilled to know that he had come looking for her. With a heavy sigh, she looked up from her desk as a wildclaw pushed aside her office door and strode into her office without permission.

"Romano," Samhain said through gritted teeth. "You have several assignments that are due today. There is no good reason to come into my office unless there is an emergency."

"Yeah, yeah, I know," the wildclaw waved his hand nonchalantly. "But I thought you might find this interesting!" Romano grinned at his boss with the mischievousness of a hatchling about to plop a centipede on an insectophobe's shoulder. Samhain scowled. She did not like where this was going whatsoever.

"Make it quick," she growled.

"How do you feel about Adrienne?" Romano asked in an innocent voice, though it was clear that his intentions were far from innocent. Samhain's expression briefly contorted before returning to a scowl.

"My relationship with her is none of your business," she spat. "And a dragon as lowly as you has no business knowing The Fallen One's name. Don't say it again unless you want to end up dead." Romano's grin widened.

"Do you feel... a little negatively about her? Some doubt, perhaps? Do you wonder why you even follow her?" Samhain's eyes widened. Her hand flew to the sword on her hip.

"Where did you hear that?!" she demanded. Romano laughed, but he didn't respond. He was too busy taking in Samhain's expression. It wasn't everyday that he got to see his stoic boss show so much emotion. "Where did you hear that?!" Samhain repeated louder.

"A certain someone told me that you have some doubts about your mom," the wildclaw answered. His smile was so wide that his cheeks began to hurt. Samhain's grip on her sword tightened. She was no longer putting much effort into concealing her fear and rage. "And mom isn't so pleased about that, isn't she? She wants all of her children to be loyal to the very end."

"You- how did you know- you're not supposed to know that- that we're family!" Samhain struggled to get out between gritted teeth. Her composure was breaking down, and her emotions were now on full display on her face. She stammered for a few moments, trying to formulate a response, before drawing a sharp breath and stared at the wildclaw in the eye. "Get to the point," Samhain spat.

"Oh, you know me so well boss! I'll get to it, just for you!" Romano's teasing tone made the skydancer grip her sword so hard that her knuckles began to pale. The wildclaw observed her expression, then shifted his gaze toward the hand on her sword. Samhain's rage was already gleefully entertaining to him, but he could not wait for how she would react to what he would say next. "You know, I like to do things of my own accord. You and Adrienne don't like that, right? You two won't let me have fun, it's so not fair! So, unless you want your little secret to be sold and let out into the world, you better get off my back, 'kay?" Romano was barely able to finish his last sentence before queen lunged forward, aiming at the wildclaw's neck with her sword, only for her blade to meet nothing but air.

"You're too predictable, boss," Romano teased. With a start, the skydancer whirled around to see that the wildclaw had gotten behind her. She whipped around to face him and slashed at him once more. Romano dodged this swing with ease, laughing as his boss missed. Practically screaming in rage, Samhain picked up the pace and started slicing at him rapidly. Her swordsmanship was tempered with her emotions-- a far cry from the elegant movements she typically employed. Under normal circumstances, Samhain would consider such carelessness to be unacceptable, but she did not care about that right now. All that mattered was putting her blade into Romano's throat. But no matter how much she swung, not a single one of her slashes even grazed his skin.

"Give it up boss," he smirked. "I may not be a warrior on your level, but don't forget that you're playing with a master thief right here! You'll never catch me! Why not take the easy method, boss? I'm giving you a deal here; all you gotta do is accept, right?" Defeated, Samhain threw her sword down in a fit of rage.

"Ooh, temper tantrum. Very unprofessional, boss." Romano clicked his tongue. Samhain glared at the wildclaw, fists clenched so hard that her claws were piercing her skin. A drop of blood fell onto the marble floor.

"The Fallen One will hear about this!" she screamed at him. Romano shook his head and sighed.

"Oh boss," he said. "She'll just tell you to deal with this on your own because I'm not a major threat. I mean, I'm not much stronger than your average warrior. She'll be appalled that someone as strong as you can't kill someone as weak as me." Samhain went silent. She was staring at Romano so intently that the wildclaw prepared to dodge her attack again. Even so, he grinned. The queen knew he was right.

"FINE!" she snapped. "I'll accept your damn deal! But do anything with that information, and you're done for, got it?!" Romano laughed.

"Of course, so long as you hold up your end of the bargain!"
