Like most nature dragons, Cyankali has a deep affection for the living things that grow, swim, fly, or crawl across the surface of Sornieth. She has a fairly large garden, growing in the fertile volcanic soil, that she cares for tenderly. Wild creatures come without fear to eat from her paws. She even maintained a tenuous connection with a clan of Maren on the Ashfall Waste's coast, and a Serthis clan near their border. She treats them all with the gentle care and respect of a dragon who knows their importance in the land's balance.

Of course, every nature dragon has their individual preference too, and it's no coincidence that everything Cyankali so tenderly fosters is poisonous. Her garden is carefully fenced in, tucked out of sight in a rocky fissure, and bedecked with signs, warning the clan's herbivores “Toxic, do not eat anything.” The wild creatures she befriends include Blue Dragon Reef Snails, known for the powerful venom they produce, Clown Chargers whose skin produces toxic secretions, and Driftwood Barons, whose hidden spurs carry a deadly venom. She even exchanges information on the collecting and distilling of various poisons with her Maren and Serthis allies, although lately the beastclans have grown reticent and less willing to share their methods with her.

Cyankali recognizes that death is a necessary part of the cycle of life, growth, and rebirth. And she recognizes that her clan plays a more direct role in delivering it. She likens them sometimes to gardeners, pruning away excess or sickly growth, and pulling weeds, to ensure the overall health of the garden. Every caretaker must know when to cull. And she aids her clan in just such work.
She knows everything any dragon could care to ask about the various poisons, venoms, and toxins to be found across the land, and how to best use them. Some poisons lose their potency almost immediately unless they are brewed with other herbs and substances. Others only work if they are eaten, or injected into the bloodstream, or inhaled. She is the one who provides poisons to the assassins of the clan, subtle, untraceable, and deadly, for whatever situation they require. Usually they are meant to be quiet deaths, a poisoned drink and mysterious death, but sometimes a poisoned dagger is necessary to send a more direct message. In the rare instances the clan must go into open battle, she provides them with poison to coat their weapons, and make them more likely to come home again.

Although one might expect a poisonmaster to be cold and forbidding, Cyankali is surprisingly kind and nurturing. She is precise and calculating, but this is because of her caring, not a lack of it. She firmly believes that what her clan does, although others might disagree, is for the good of their region, and she offers her friendship to all members. Her room is often full of familiars of her favored breeds, from pampered pets to wild ones that followed her home. She was one of the first members of the clan to offer full welcome to Zezric, Dantalion's Serthis familiar, much to both their appreciation. She enjoys inviting him to her distillery so that they can work together and learn each other's methods. She seems to enjoy Dantalion's company just as much, and she can often manage to coax the taciturn tactician into conversation even when no one else can.
