Child of the Plague and adopted son of Heigil. His love for Shanhu burns so passionately, their differences matter not. After the passing of his father, he decided to take on the role of leader of the lair that separated from the original, grand family. However, his father's differences with his grandpa, Elish, meant nothing to him. Should the true royal family need itー rather, should Elish need it, he's more than willing to risk his life to defend what he believes is right.

Sometimes, he'll leave the family with his partner to go visit Kashu's shop. There, they hear about the stories he's been told regarding Elish's children and their current adventures, or about the lost branch of the royal family and their whereabouts. Something's bothering Hongyi, however. The sensation of a shadow looming over them won't leave him, as if the whole family was in danger.

The feeling grows stronger, more pressing and unnerving every day, and since the birth of Enkiri's first children ("About time!" Shanhu exclaims, to Kashu's amusement, but to Hongyi's dread), Tenkei and Gilrei, it has gotten increasingly worse to handle it. Though his partner wishes to understand, he won't disclose whatever's bothering him, until he feels capable of putting it in simple words.

For someone like Hongyi… that might take too long. And it might be too late by then.
