Anurhea's position as the clan's matriarch is shocking to many non-clan members at first, due to her size of course. But once they get to know her, they can see why she leads. Anurhea learned to respect herself, and thus holds a regal yet respectable aura around her. This is the main reason why Glykren deemed her worthy to be his charge. Glykren is her closest companion because he can understand her emotions and intentions, even with her crest and monotone voice. The two are inseparable.
Anurhea became the matriarch after Ryujin gave her the title in order to be closer to her own charge. Ryujin saw that Anurhea was more available to the clan than she was, and saw her leadership capabilities.
