EREBUS Shade-Touched Emperor |

Abner used to be an archaeologist who worked in the Hewn City. One of his missions was to research a long-lost group of dragons who used to worship the Shade. He failed to realize that there were fragments of Shade still clinging onto the site and its artifacts. Because of this, he wasn't careful around them, which led some of the fragments to become connected with him. Abner became tainted, the Shade slowly swallowing up his mind as time passed. |

Shazia was a scientist who worked at a lab in the Starwood Strand. She was interested in the Shade, especially how it affected dragons. Many of her experiments studied this. After gathering numerous fragments of Shade, she took some dragons - some by and some against their will - and ran tests on them. She exposed them to the Shade and recorded how they reacted. After a while of doing these tests, she absorbed too much Shade herself. Much like Abner, it slowly took over her. |

Kaleva had planned to dedicate her life to serving the Tidelord. However, her dreams were destroyed when the water deity mysteriously disappeared. She waited for a few years, hoping that she would at least get some sort of sign. But none ever came. Kaleva eventually decided that she couldn't take it anymore. The Tidelord had abandoned dragonkind. She figured she'd search out someone or something else to follow - a thing that was worth worshipping. After some searching, she met up with a group of former Tidelord followers who'd taken to worshipping the Shade. She joined them, and as time passed, the Shade became a friend to her.

Inarr was born with a curse. Ever since the moment he had hatched, the Shade was a part of him. It attempted to control him. He did his best to hold it back, but it was difficult. The life he lived was a miserable one. He was afraid that the gaolers would find out about his curse and lock him up, so he fled his homeland and abandoned his family. He worried that the Shade would cause him to hurt someone, so he isolated himself from other dragons. He continued to fight the Shade alone. However, as he got older, it got steadily harder to control. Inarr was eventually forced to give in. |

The four Imperials wandered on their own for a while. When they eventually stumbled across each other, they formed an inseparable bond. As a group, the Shade that had already been controlling them seemed to grow even stronger. They wreaked havoc on a number of lairs before finally being defeated and killed. Soon after their deaths, the Imperials fused to form the emperor Erebus. Since then, they have remained within a deep slumber. The lair they sleep in lies close to the Eclipse Sanctuary. Zodell is watchful, should they ever wake. |
