The large guardian stood on hind legs, her wings at full mast. A terrifying screech was let out, louder than even the tides roaring to meet the nearby beach. For the intruder, this must have been a spectacle. Her wings reflected blue light onto the ground, the sun giving off an intimidating backlight. As the guardian crashed her forelegs down on the intruder's tail, the hoard of their clans' possessions was revealed for only a moment.

Seaglass was not at fault, in the end. She sent the intruder home packing, but she could never have predicted that there was more than one spiral. That they were waiting for a moment to pounce on the clan's hard-earned hoard. That moment, however good her intentions may be, she had lost it all. Not just for herself, but for her clan, as well.

She couldn't face the shame. As a guardian, it was built into her to protect. To wrap around something and show no mercy to any intruders. Before the rest of the clan came home from hunting, she left it all behind to evade the shame she felt. There were no traces of what had happened, except any blood the spiral lost and the obvious lack of a hoard. From the place she had grown up, the place she had called her home, she would have to learn a newer way of living.

For months on her own, the dragon learned to fend for herself. She dug herself a hobbit hole of a lair. She fought intruders, beastclans, and unruly prey. She survived on her own, each day her skills becoming more and more potent. Her claws became sharp, and her wit sharper. With each passing day, accruing more and more of a hoard, she stopped surviving. On her own, she thrived, without the worry of losing it all.
