Uzume is a dragon of many nightmares and regrets. Where other young fledglings feared the dark of their closets with the knowledge of monsters and demons, Uzume only saw the bright red wings and sharpened knives that took her village's life. And where most children learned they had nothing to fear, her's blossomed into nightly terrors and dreams that the small albino could barely understand as assassin after assassin found their family, each molding and twisting her path. So young, and already burdened with an unknowable weight and endless pain and suffering. She strives to hide it under sarcasm and stubbornness, to hide her countless sleepless nights and the abrupt tears of one suddenly woken from everyone and everything. Even her own mate.

Uzume is the daughter of Jinwu and sibling to his heir in name only as her original family was slaughtered in front of the young albino when she was just a hatchling. Her guardian kitsune who had originally stolen her away ended up saving her life and left her in the care of the vengeful albino's house.

Jinwu's children, no matter how much protection and love his mate gives them, are at constant risk of death from the effluvials that roam Blacksands. Uzume has spent many a night huddled behind another sibling or by herself with a dagger wondering where the dawn fled and praying to live another day.

rituals & mannerisms ❧

Uzume's blood family maintained a proud heritage of shrines and monks dedicated to the fox spirits and their god that she practices herself (albeit differently due to the loss of proper teachers). The golden spirit that first wondered around her new home ignited her love and passion for pottery and like crafts when she made small statues for her. All of Uzume's work is dedicated to the kitsunes through special rituals and veins of her unique virus in the clay itself. Other traditions include her matching attire to her kitsune guide as a show of respect along with adopting her warmer colors and the caretaking of several fox dens.

Uzume has a good head on her shoulders and can think rationally but is prone to make hasty decisions that she's stubborn to back down on. While not traditionally 'emotional' she is very much led by hers (especially so when it comes to Inari) that can and often does cause unnecessary strife and anxiety in her life. Still, she is as kind and gentle as her mother and as vicious as the foxes when need be.

The Fox's Bite: Uzume's blood carries a very unique strain of the typical virus. This mutation did not occur naturally like Frostbite's, rather it is a supernatural intervention from Inari (the supposed fox god not her love) and their messengers to "help" the albino monks to become closer to their patron spirits. While not much different those marked are susceptible to kitsune influence and possession and typically far easier to control and manipulate for the albino as victims enter a trance like state that encourages them to cooperate with the foxes and their servants. Other symptoms may also include a sudden obsession with foxes and a need to serve them or induce a foxlike feral state for the victim. Even effluvials unknowingly stung by the group may go on to develop an involuntary love for foxes or warmer colors (though no other symptoms will occur as per crow hierarchy).

As for the crows themselves the virus results in unique attributes. (Some speculate their dedication to the kitsunes are a result of their own virus though this is quickly denied.) Thin branch like markings of bright red run across the entire body that call on the image of foxes and flowers. Usually nigh invisible by adulthood, the family would place tattoos or jewelry along them and making themselves even more fox like. The most obvious effect is the change in their marks that resemble tail like petals spiraling out from either a central sun or moon marking.The number of petals followed traditional kitsunes and appear as five, seven, or nine. Uzume's own is five tails around a sun.
