Growing up, the siren was told by her parents, descendants of a legendary viking and mermaid duo that she was above such things like friendships and spending time with other dragons. Because she heard so much of it and was always pushed by her parents to train to become the most fearsome valkyrie Sornieth had ever seen, Talene found herself agreeing with them more and more. Soon, the mermaid was almost grown up and unsure of how to cope with her emotions and was sent to a training program against dragons from other flights. The program was elite but was also open to anyone, this resulted in Aquilo deciding to join as a joke. The moment Talene and Aquilo met, Talene felt a bubbly feeling in her heart for the first time in many years since her first crush as a young dragon and Aquilo felt the need and responsibility of giving the siren the best possible life full of laughs and happiness emerge within him. Of course, Aquilo didn't like Talene romantically but the mermaid agreed to go with him to the Clan of the Hibiscus Songbird with promises to join their warriors and enjoy a social life. Though, Talene wasn't exactly greeted with love and friendship offers, the clan was mainly coatl-only so the clanmembers were wary of her in the beginning, causing her to live on the outskirts. But soon enough, dragons began to warm up to her and she felt her heart open up towards them, though still residing on the outskirts to enjoy the peace there.

Talene is also very standoffish at first glance with her scary appearance of glowing eyes and mermaid/siren background but she is actually very sweet. She is of course, very intelligent but she uses her brain for battle rather than intellectual reasons. Talene is fairly confident in herself but not so much as to be egotistical and enough to trust her guts in the midst of battle. As a part of the clan living on the outskirts and not having much interaction with other dragons in her hatchling-hood due to being a mermaid, Talene can often be percieved (when her unintended cold exterior is looked past) to be unsure of how emotions work and to have lower than average social skills, though, she tries her best to befriend her clanmates.
