Children of the Quickdraw Gang grow up in a household-- or as much of a household an encampment comprised of flimsy tents under a sky full of stars can get-- full of what can more or less be described as sheer chaos. Most choose to embrace the same life of crime their parents did but a few do seek a different path, chasing a fate that won't end up with them shot and bleeding out in some deity-forsaken ravine somewhere.

Their parents care little about what each hatchling eventually decides for themselves; this indifferent world will be neither the better nor the worse for it.

If there's one thing Carver has learned-- being born to a family of outlaws and all-- it is this: there's no shame in survival. It's not just about murder and thievery. It's about getting away with your hide intact, and your pride, if that can be salvaged, even at the expense of other lives.

So, young Carver sets up shop in a nowhere town and starts selling snake oil.

He takes to it like a duck to water, never staying long in a single town and never claiming the absolute impossible of his products. It's about letting the customer think they are right in assuming that yes, the liquid in this murky blue bottle won't grow you gills but will help you breathe a little better underwater, and at the end of the day, isn't that the same thing?

He knows he will never get rich, not from small scams like these, but the thrill of the grift... well it keeps him going. Can't ask for much more than that. 		x
