❀ Species Profile & Conservation Status ❀

Least Concern The reticulated poison frog is a species of poison dart frog native to South America, where it can be found in tropical rainforests in Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, French Guiana, and Peru. These frogs secrete poison through glands in the skin that protect them from pathogens and predators.

Fun Fact: Their bright colors - known as aposematic coloration - are also a warning to predators, signaling “I’m toxic! Don’t eat me!”

Trima and her twin brother Meyo were the first Banescales hatched at Owl Wood. Even before they had fledged the nest, it was clear that they both had a fighting spirit, so they were sent to apprentice with Tyra.
