Help me I REALLY need to stop buying pretty dragons
writing is still a wip; expect weird writing and potentially garbage grammar
rewrite needed; changing some lore stuff where there generally seems to be nothing living in level V, but "echos" of beings not from Sorneith seem to occasionally show up; its uncertain how they get there, but it may have something to do with the weird, mirror-like crystals which make up level V. Sometimes they merely show up as reflections within the crystals, oblivious to any abyss travelers who may see them; other times they manifest in a physical form and can interact with travelers, each one telling stories of unfamiliar worlds. They never seem to stay for long, and it's uncertain how they leave; they seem to simply vanish once out of sight.
Vaughn is different from the other echos, as they alway manifests physically whenever dragons see them, is entirely mute, and seems far more aware of their cavernous surroundings than any of the other echos.
This is definitely not me figuring out a way to keep fan dragons around without entirely saying they don't exist in my lore nope not at all
While one traverses through the mirror-like crystal caverns which make up level V of the abyss, it's possible to catch a glimpse of something from the corner of one's eye - something which, unlike most of the rest of the cavern, is muted in color, and which reflects nothing. It's something which most who pass through simply write off as a trick-of-the-light within these unusual caverns, if they even noticed it at all.
However, for some, it's difficult to write off a sudden, face-to-face appearance of a "walking statue" when turning a corner as simply a trick-of-the-light.
This "statue" - which those who've encountered them call Vaughn - is Skydancer-like in appearance, their beak, wings, and tail tip made of what appears to be solid, intricately-carved stone, while the rest of their body is a swirling void of stars and dark magic, all dressed in sage-like drapes. Beneath their shawl, a pair of eyes peers out, resembling the stars which make up their form.
Mute and silent in motion, Vaughn seems to have a habit of following abyss travelers who make their way through level V, usually staying barely out of sight. However, for reasons only known to them, they'll sometimes show themselves to the travelers, usually to the travelers' surprise. They seem generally uninterested in the motives of the travelers, or even the appearance of the travelers, as they've supposedly been seen following dragons and monsters alike who find themselves within level V. They also never seem inclined to harm or help travelers, merely observe.
Interestingly, they seem to have no reflection within the crystals which make up most of the walls of level V.
