T H E H O R R O R An impossible entity, the dragon known simply as The Horror has names. They are Elina, Grenshaw, and Lor. They do not quite appreciate being named as if they are some mindless, scavenging abomination, but they also understand. It's not as if they are nice to look at. All the same...they do have feelings. Long ago, Grenshaw discovered Kalvagore and attempted to engineer a cure for her virus. He succeeded only in preserving the consciousnesses of the victims. He was never aware that he had gotten infected until the day he died.

The enraging and frustrating thing is that they can't remember.

Grenshaw's furthest memory is awakening in his tent at the edge of the battlefield after succumbing to what he thought was a mortal wound.

Elina's furthest memory is wondering why she couldn't roll away from the dragon beside her.

Lor's furthest memory is pain. He woke up before he was completely absorbed.

Learning how to control their body took weeks. They cried. They raged. They sat and talked to each other, trying to figure out why this happened to them. It would help if they could remember, but that won't happen. The longer they share a body the less they can recall they were ever anything else. They tend to speak in near-unison, one head echoing the other in a slight delay, though they can speak individually if they concentrate enough.

Elina, Grenshaw, and Lor live in constant hiding. For some reason, they are not contagious to others, but their appearance is enough to cause chaos. On top of that, the Lightweaver is in constant search for them and they don't know why. Perhaps it is because they are the only sentient Emperor. They fear she seeks to kill them, and while they mourn their own existence, the trio do not wish to die. Grenshaw doesn't remember who he was, but he does still have a scientific mind. They toil to find an answer.

Perhaps it is a pointless hope.

In the dark wilderness, it is common to hear three voices softly crying together. Many locals will say it is ghosts, but a select few know exactly what is out there, namely Zehla. She offers what aid she can to them - food, moral support, protection. She warns them if the Lightweaver seems to be getting too close to them. They rarely stay in the same area for more than a year. One day, fate will surely catch up to them. There is likely no way to separate them. Zehla has said as much, and she is the brightest mind in Sornieth when it comes to strange and unusual things.

They do not hate being together, at least. They just wish they could remember their lives. All of their habits and aversions are mysteries to them. Why does Grenshaw hate the rain? Why does Elina love fruit? Why does Lor crave books upon books to read the day away? Simple habits, yes, but they lend insight into the dragons they once were and never can be again. They live in sadness, but also comfort. They will always be there for each other - as if they have a choice.
