Lore
Xenos was a fine young prince. He is from a well known, royal bloodline, and enjoys watching butterflies fly in the star lit, night sky. Xenos didn’t care about what the others thought of him. He had always dreamed about being able to fly like the butterflies one day and show his true nature.
…
It was late at night, and he heard his parents calling him from inside the castle, and he ran inside. They had made dinner for him. It was another fancy plate that he didn’t really like, but ate anyway. Then, Xenos headed back outside, deciding to sleep on the grass for the night. He gazed at the stars, wondering what life away from the castle grounds would be like. He had never been off the castle grounds before, but life beyond them was bound to be more interesting than his life here. Xenos saw a single butterfly out in the distance. He wished he could be like a butterfly. He wanted to be free and not have to deal with the tasks of a human prince. Then, Xenos drifted off to sleep, unaware of the butterfly that was now on his arm, falling asleep with him.
...
One night, his dark blue eyes suddenly glowed bright, illuminating the ground around him. A small Imperial dragon flew down to him out of nowhere. Xenos had read about these royal, ancient dragons in books, but he had always thought they were a myth. This encounter proved him wrong. The Imperial was covered in green fireflies, and a few of the fireflies flew towards Xenos and landed on his arms. Then, the Imperial flew around Xenos, surrounding him in green light. Suddenly, it disappeared, and Xenos was left with the green fireflies glowing bright against the night sky. He looked down at what was once his fingers, and saw talons in the place of them. Then, his eyes stopped glowing, and a pair of beautiful, butterfly wings sprouted from his back. Xenos examined himself, realizing he was now a dragon, an Imperial dragon to be exact. He noticed that he was different from the Imperials he read about in books. Xenos was covered with scales that were as dark as the night sky. He had green fireflies that illuminated the area around him as he walked or flew. The most special thing about Xenos was the butterfly wings that he had instead of the usual dragon wings. Xenos now looked younger than he was when he was a human.
This was a dream come true. He thought about his family back at the castle. Xenos wondered if he should be leaving them to start a new life as his new dragon self, or if he should be staying with them. His fate awaited him away from the castle grounds, but he didn’t know if leaving the people that he grew up with was the right choice. He closed his eyes, wishing that his family would be able to become dragons, too, and find him one day. Then, he opened his eyes. Xenos silently promised that he would make the mysterious dragon proud as he spread his wings, and soared off into the night sky, starting his new life as a royal descendant of the rare Imperial bloodline.
