»Relationships Alptraum is Whiplash's mate. Their relationship isn't the most healthy- Whiplash quit her Assassin job to spend more time with Alptraum, but the other Skydancer lives for her mercenary career. When she is around, they argue, bicker, and fight, but they are too stubborn to make the first move and end the relationship. Truthfully, Whiplash likes the tension, the backhanded comments, and the arguments, because it's something she's in control of.  Ymyr is one of Whiplash's closest friends and advisors. Whiplash often finds herself writing things that might make someone upset at her- upset enough for assault, or, in the worst cases (usually involving Krahe) an attempt on her life. Ymyr helps Whiplash decide whether or not she should or shouldn't put something in the archives or write about it and tack it on Nuthir's Folly city bulletin. Ymyr is also her bartender, and Whiplash loves anybody who serves her drinks. 
Whiplash has named her enchanted quill Spellchecker. She loves him. Mostly because her spelling is atrocious. Sometimes he'll write down little pieces of grammar advice, too. Just what every author needs. |
»History Whiplash was gifted to Krahe. The dragoness quite liked the hatchlings spunk and the caretaker's jokingly called her Whiplash due to how they were constantly giving themselves whiplash trying to keep an eye on her. Whiplash grew into a beautiful dragoness and her senior, Alptraum, who was a couple years older, was to train her into an assassin. Whiplash didn't want to be an assassin, but it was her only chance at freedom and leaving Nuthir's Folly. Alptraum trained her well- she soon was turned into a deadly, precise weapon, able to be used against dragons of all sizes, from the tiniest Fae to the largest Ridgeback. Her Skydancer senses made her exceptional at knowing dragon's intentions before they struck, and her light, quick movements made her hard to hit. Alptraum and Whiplash became friends after they had a contract together. Friendship grew into romance, and they fell for each other. The dragoness wanted to retire after a near-death experience. She wanted to be at home more with Alptraum and wanted to write, make art, and learn how to play music. It seems she's walking on a tightrope more at home, though, as the archivist to a Matriarch who refuses to accept the facts of things and wants clan history to be what she says it is. Whiplash fights, though, as she has her whole life- and deep down, she wants freedom from Nuthir's Folly as much as everyone else in the fortress city. |
