Shade-creature
Jackal's lifemate.
Though he looks and functions like a normal dragon, Batty is, in truth, a shade-creature born from unusual circumstances between his parents.
Though he's far from scary. He's hyperactive as heck, and talks, a lot. He's also very friendly, though often skips around about subjects to the point of driving any-one listening batty, thus earning his nickname. They say he's worse than spirals at it.
He will tell the world everything, and nothing is safe for long with him. The pearlcatcher's like him because of it - as does Noodle.
However, for all he looks and acts like a normal dragon, he is a shade-creature: sometimes his shadow will wrap around a dragon and attempt to devour or corrupt them, though he's started to become more mindful of this. He does enjoy showing off what he can do as he learns to use more of his shade - sadly, his humour leaves much to be desired.
