Biography

I-am-from.png

Hibi grew up in a thriving lair beside the Beacon, an interlocking system of guilds and hierarchies that could bewilder any hatchling. Luckily, she was kept safely away from that, inside the castle walls. Her mother, Kintsugi, was known throughout the clan for her traumatic childhood and subsequent rescue—her skin showed the golden scars of it clearly. As a result, her and her children were well cared for inside the castle.

Hibi grew up taking care of her mother rather than under her care. She and her siblings were a rotating cast of caretakers, tending to their mother's physical and emotional delicacy. All the while, resentment simmered. Hibi began to quietly hate her mother for being weak, for demanding constant attention. The moment she was allowed to leave, she vowed to become everything her mother wasn't.

The first thing she did was find an experienced body modification artist in the Ashfall Waste, and ask for the same golden scars to be laced across her skin. She wanted to prove that she could bear it better, that she could love the marks her mother had hated.

She stayed with Saalzarell as an apprentice, and grew close to the other dragon under hir tutelage, Pigpen. During their apprenticeship, their friendship bloomed into a romance—they decided to that when they were finished, they would off together to become a travelling pair of tattoo artists.

Their plans were interrupted by the arrival of Jamra. Hibi was her charge, and the guardian immediately set about protecting her. Hibi and Pigpen's partnership was thrown off balance, as Hibi's vague annoyance transformed into acceptance, and then a hesitant affection for Jamra.

After a long discussion, where she confessed her love for both of them, she was surprised by how easily the three of them fell into a triad. Now they continue to travel as tattoo artists (and their very competent bodyguard).
