Ois's birth was something unconventional. He hatched from an ice egg that had somehow found its way in the Sea of a Thousand Currents. He spent the first five years of his life among the sea life. He never quite found a home down in the water. The dragons had their own schools, communities and traditions. Furthermore, the Maren dared not approach a Guardian. The other sea creatures simply swam by. This left Ois feeling like he did not belong.

Ois's true birth name is Braven. He has the true king of a once-large clan from the Southern Icefield. Others describe him as quiet, reserved, and forgetful. Ois is often pondering about his past and the future. This often distracts him from events that are occurring presently.

Ambrose is one of Ois's best friends. Ois's quiet, reserved personality is balanced out by Ambrose's adventurous and outgoing personality.

Tabor is one of Ois's best friends. Ois often finds himself lost in thought and confused, and Tabor is one of the few who can help him make sense of it all.

Ariot is Ois's long lost half-brother. Upon reuniting, Ariot revealed they are from an old royal family, and that Ois is the true king.

On one particular day, Ois noticed a peculiar shadow near the surface. He followed it for what seemed like miles. As the shadow lifted out of the water, Ois followed and found himself at the shores of The Tangled Wood. The shadow was nowhere to be seen, but Ois was instead greeted by a friendly Tundra by the name of Tabor and a talkative Pearlcatcher by the name of Ambrose.

Ois had found a home with Tabor and Ambrose. This home grew as more dragons joined the clan. However, there was still a void inside of him. He constantly had dreams and nightmares of two dragons fleeing while being pursued by enemies. Who could those two dragons be? Were they able to escape? What was his connection to them? Ois had so many questions, but no answers.

If was not be until he met Ariot that his questions were answered. Ariot claimed to be his brother and told stories of their mother and Ois's father, the former king of a now lost kingdom. What could all this mean for Ois?
