burning oil - dirty flames blaze across barren fields, leaving only dark remnants of its passing
it looks slick, and yet it clings to the skin and fur of those who pass
a body grey as the dirt, belly like sticky oil and wings reflecting fire that had devoured the horizon
she was born here, and knows no else. is she to blame?

character notes: her egg was part of a clutch but it at some point rolled away and was lost, ending up in the nearby oil fields. when the blaze started her progenitors ran, leaving her egg behind. she hatched to the burning warmth of the fire and her colors ended up changing to match the environment around her (canon lore? who's she? don't ask me how these things work just let me dream), with no one around to teach her anything she grew up feral and lived entirely by instinct. the fields became her territory and she wasn't interested in traveling much outside it except to scavenge the outskirts when food was scarce. when she first met Soot she was aggressive and distrusting, same as with any intruder that approached. she eventually came to tolerate Soot's presence when she helped with finding food and shelter. over time, she learned how to communicate with Soot and through listening to her learned about the things beyond basic survival and started to develop a more complex personality. in time, she came to love Soot, but thats a long way off.
gijinka: basically a rat gremlin (but acts like a cat lol), latina, gangly - mainly bc of weird limb/torso proportions that make her look tall even though she only has a lil bit of height over Soot and also bc she is not at all getting adequate nutrition in her diet so she's bony and weirdly shaped, constantly dirty, dark auburn hair that looks like she's never had a haircut in her life bc she hasn't, has intense rbf but is also vaguely mad all the time so it's hard to tell the difference
