xxx As a hatchling, this was the fate her birth clan's seer saw for her: she would never find another to love her as she would them. Her parents did not receive this news well-- by then, Fury was old enough to know how to load, clean and shoot the rifles the clan's guard used, old enough to understand the disappointment and pity in her family's eyes, old enough to run away that night and to remember take the rifle with her.

Any other dragon travelling alone would have been waylaid by the myriad of highwaymen and bandits lurking by the dark paths through the Tangled Wood.

Not her.

Fury was careful with the bullets-- all it took was one shot, directly between the eyes of the unfortunate, unwise dragon who mistook her for easy prey-- but by the time she stumbled from the darkness into the bright Sorineth sun, her pouch was empty and she knew to keep her rifle at the ready at all times.

She emerged unscathed and with a feeling in her heart that she could not quite place till she rested for the night and began to check her gun over.

Quite simply, she had never felt happier. 		█

 		She tries puts the prophecy out of her head-- there are, after all, more things to worry about in this difficult world than if anyone will ever love her back. So, she pours her energy into doing what she does best: killing.

It doesn't matter who. If there's a particularly lucrative bounty up for grabs, she'll take it, but she isn't above threatening innocent dragons, either. Fury doesn't want to think about it, but she reasons that since no one will love her, it might as well be for a reason.

Out there in the wilderness, it's just her, her rifle, and the harsh, unforgiving terrain. The dirt is packed hard beneath her claws and the air smells of gunpowder and rain; as Fury turns her head to the horizon, she can't help but think: isn't this-- the sun above as scorching as the liquor she downs, the silver glint of the barrel of her rifle, the wide open terrain before her-- isn't it love?
