Pax ran across the finish line and shouted his triumph. The remaining Wildclaws, Tundras, and Pearlcatchers looked at him in amazement. Pulsatilla rushed forward and congratulated him. The race of the tribes of sand always caused great excitement. The winner gets new apparel and a familiar. Pax shone with pride as the competing dragons gathered around. A small breeze rolled through the valley in which the race was held. Suddenly Pax felt a strange calling echoing from the wind, the commotion and excitement was drowned out by the call that only he heard.
That night Pax creeped out of his den and flew into the steady yet chilling wind. The sound cept in his ears and echoed about them endlessly. A storm broke out from above but Pax proceeded the ringing had become only stronger as he flew. Fog swirled all around him as he traveled, the night slowly turned into dawn yet the ever increasing sound pushed him forward. Several drops chilled his scales and the sun began to brighten over the mountains. Many birds sang songs around him and Pax enjoyed listening to them while he flew.
Soon Pax rested on a tall tree and regained his strength for the next league of his flight no matter how long it would be. The mountains seemed to hide whatever was calling him and Pax’s destination soon became clear. The snow tipped mountains had been ever present in his mind since the call had first been sounded. Pax still wondered what had pleaded for him to come, if it was good or bad, or neutral. Soon Pax had crossed the meadow and he saw a group of five dragons surrounding two pearls. Feeling that the source of the plea had come from the dragons he descended. The dragons gave a greeting and told him they had called Pax to join them in the makings of a new clan called Emrys. Pax agreed and a few days later Pulsatilla joined him and several other dragons in Emrys.
