Biography

JuJu is the perfect baker for his clan. He already looks like one of the delicious things he’d make for the whole clan to enjoy! Whenever he hands out a new batch of sweets, he tries to look all gruff and tough when the other dragons praise him, but it melts his heart inside.

He loves to spend time concocting new recipes for the perfect cupcake. Sometimes the flavors don’t go together, but that never sets JuJu back. He simply feeds the bad batch to the nearest familiar and tries again.

JuJu loves to bring his mate, Amantia, treats and sugary sweets and has even named successful recipes after her, the love of his life.

Chip beamed. There was a streak of flour across her nose, and her talons were in quite a state, but her grin far outshone this. It was infectious, to say the least.
“What do you think?” She prompted me, nervously wringing her talons.
I couldn’t squash my smile any longer, chuckling a

“I think,” I started, “this may be one of the best cupcakes I have ever tasted.”

Chip jumped into the air with a whoop, swooping me into a hug. I chuckled and hugged her tightly back. She broke off to excitedly recount to me the entire baking process.

“Well, you see, I used a different ratio of hazelnut-to-cocoa, so the nutty flavor was more of an oomph in this one than the last one—“
I nodded and asked questions occasionally: 'What did you use to get the icing smooth?', 'Exactly how long did you bake it for?', 'HOW MANY TEASPOONS OF SUGAR DID YOU SAY YOU USED?!'
She flashed me a toothy grin.
I was so proud of her. I remember how she was when Amantia and I found her; a tiny, shivering hatchling with matted fur and wide eyes. Now, she had found her confidence, her hope, her home.

“Let’s show Amantia,” I suggested.

“Actually,” Chip said nervously, “I was hoping I could make a cake for her... for her birthday..?”
My entire body rushed with warmth at the thoughtfulness and consideration of my daughter. Because that’s what she was, and would always be: my daughter.

“That’s a wonderful idea.” This time, I was the one to wrap her up in my arms. She nuzzled her head onto my shoulder.

“I love you, dad.”

“I love you, too.”
