Once upon a time, shortly before Kyruuka took over the back end of the garden, something very large and metallic landed in the Scarred Wasteland above Rotriver Cavern. A strange contraption, creeping along the ground slowly, but steadily. None could know the origins, indeed it came from so far outside of Sornieth's place in the galaxy that even the Shade would be baffled.

But this did not matter to the massive hole in the ground that led straight into Rotriver Cavern, more specifically to the Houndstooth Manor's back garden, which was empty and devoid of plants at the time.

After a short while of self-diagnostic repairs, the little metallic thing began to wander, investigating the garden slowly from back to front, taking samples of each new plant and fungus it passed. Unnoticed by the inhabitants of the manor, who figured the new holes in their plants were caused by some insect or bored hatchling, the metallic creature trudged slowly onwards, towards the manor itself

After months of exploring the garden, dealing with stuck limbs, vine-tangled equipment, water, and wildlife, the metal beast finally found its first true opponent

Stairs

The mirrors of the Houndstooth Clan are more than a little embarrassed to admit that they spent almost two and a half hours watching the vaguely coatl-shaped space probe struggle to climb the stairs of the back porch in an attempt to reach the manor.

Eventually, however, Darling took pity on the little thing and carried the little explorer up the stairs so it could explore the porch freely.

It promptly beelined for the indoors and was lost for three months until Scyfax found it in a supply closet, bouncing off the walls in a very sad circle.

After enlisting the help of Rayna, the "Space Roomba" as it had come to be known was fitted with a tracking device so the residents of the manor can rescue it if it ever gets trapped again. Now it just wanders about the manor, avoiding stairs and bumping into walls. Sometimes even furniture, if the furnishings are feeling too lazy to move.

The more responsible members of the clan have to keep several dragons (primarily Poindexter) from attaching a knife to the little machine and calling it "Stabby"
