Biography
From Nuishe's journal
It’s shocking, but I actually quite like Wynn.
I know, I know, it sounds bad. Ideally, I should like more of my clanmates, but since I’ve been stuck in this awful fleshy maze for so long, I find that I really can’t stand most Ridgebacks.
That’s neither here nor there. What is here, right now, in front of me, is a piping hot cup of tea. And just next to me is a young Ridgeback, delicately separating and sorting dried leaves with immaculately filed claws.
I was in a real state this morning. I thought someone might have taken my book, mypersistent hallucination monster ugly copy kept startling me, the Mold King hissed at me, my anxiety was through the roof, I felt just about ready to have a heart attack and die. Then Wynnella appeared out of nowhere as I rounded a corner, and I very nearly did.
She took me aside and asked me to try her tea. The steam coming from her teapot did smell good, and I can’t say no to my giant terrible clanmates, so I agreed to indulge her and prayed I wouldn’t be poisoned. But, funnily enough, as Wynnella poured me a cup of tea and then sat near me off to one side, I started to feel more at ease. Maybe it was the earthy aroma of the tea, maybe it was her soft voice, I don’t know, but it was a welcome relief from the anxiety of the day.
She kept glancing over at me while I waited for my drink to cool. She was rattling her spines, picking at her gloves, adjusting her skirt. She was nervous, like a fledgling artist showing off the first drawing they’re proud of. It made me want to reassure her. So, when I took a sip and found that the tea was better than I could’ve imagined, I did.
She’s shy, but I got her talking once I’d convinced her the tea was good. She claimed that Astrocystis had taught her how to cultivate and prepare the plants and then brew them into tea, but after some pressing she admitted that she’d really only been taught how to take care of the plants. She and her sister Helvella had figured out most of the tea production process on their own.
She has a real talent. She’s as good as any Nature dragon, in my opinion. And she’s pleasant to be around, too - I could get used to listening to the gentle rustling of dried leaves and occasional soft chatter.
I’m pleasantly surprised. I’ll have to spend more time with Wynn.
