Biography
First Snow
With her body being covered in her thick winter coat, Winteriss had spent the night sleeping in the open air atop the cool stone platforms of the mirrorlight promenade. She was forced to sleep in such a way to avoid overheating. She was the first dragon to awake to the snow, the flakes landing on her bare nose. It was still dark when she woke, but she rose anyways, excited by the sight of the first snowflakes.
Winteriss stood and shook her massive fur coat, spraying a light mist of ice- cold morning dew off the hairs. She finally felt comfortable. She was tired of the continuous sun beaming down over the Light flight territory, heating her fur and causing her to feel constantly exhausted. Winter was difficult for a tundra living far from the coldest territories.
Suddenly a small, sleek shape trotted towards her. Her snowy companion nuzzled her leg affectionately, then proceeded to leap at the falling flakes.
Winteriss laughed at the playful feline, then spread her wings quickly in an attempt to take flight. It took only a moment for her to remember her wings were too heavy to use this month. Sighing, she instead climbed up a wide rock pillar and simply sat and watched over the dark fields as the snow fell in thick flakes.
Eventually, enough snow had collected on the ground to create a beautiful, thin blanket over the grass and trees. Excited to share the sight with others, she leaped down the rock tower, using her heavy wings to awkwardly glide to the ground on. She headed toward a patch of trees she knew several clan members were slumbering under.
Island was the only one to respond to her whispered call. It was still gloomy, and for a clan that was used to rising with the sun, it was far too early for most of their liking.
Island lifted her head groggily and glared at Winteriss. Winteriss gestured quietly at the surrounding snow and acted out a couple joyous leaps to show her excitement. Island glanced around, shivered, rolled her eyes at Winteriss, then promptly shut them and turned away. She was a tropical dragon, and despised the feeling of ice against her scales.
Winteriss sighed but wasn't bothered. She would simply sit peacefully with her feline friend and watch the sun rise over the fresh powder, waiting for the rest of the clan to arise.
