PERSONALITY + BACKGROUND
Once a high Minister of Magic for the Oculus of the Eleven, Julianna used to work alongside Alaric in these Arcane Sanctums. Together, they monitored lines of magic from across the realm, both as co-workers and lovers. Despite seeing all kinds of magic working in multiple different ways - both for good and for bad - she cannot help but find herself disgusted by dark magic. No matter how many times she sees the benefits of magic's other facets, she cannot let go of her past and how dark magic has affected her life. When she first learned that Alaric was experimenting with dark magic, it took all the willpower she had not to immediately shut him out. As it turns out, things might have turned out far better if she had only done exactly that. Alaric's interest in the dark arts continued to grow, spiraling out of control and eventually leading him to create what is now known as Puppet dragons. These dragons contain the souls of dragons who have somehow passed away, but their conscious has been transferred to the body of a stuffed Puppet. They are compelled to do their Master's bidding, and rarely have a mind of their own unless the curse that keeps them in their transient state is broken. Unfortunately for Julianna, she was the first of his victims...

After the incident and Alaric's departure, other scholars of the Oculus worked tirelessly to return her to her former self. Thankfully, they were able to return her brain... but not her body. In spite of all that had happened, she refused to tell the other magisters of exactly what caused her to become a Puppet, as she still does not want to persecute Alaric for what he did. Deep down, she believes he must still have some good left in him. Despite knowing it likely isn't safe to do so, she used her skills to track Alaric down over time. She still often communicates with him and occasionally helps him with certain types of research. She always makes sure to slip a little something in there; reminding him of the light and the good and that he can have it back if he so chooses. |
