Biography
Mated to Bubo
Plague Incarnate
First Horseman of the Clan
Nameless. Cold. Starving. Festering with disease. As a hatchling, this Skydancer was born sick and cast out of her clutch. Having nowhere to go and no one to turn to she tried to survive on her own only to find the world a harsh and unforgiving place. Lost in the woods and untrained in hunting she slowly starved as the sickness in her took her last breath. Alone near a great tree she left this earth without even a name to call herself.
But this was not to be the end of her journey. Her spirit lingered, listlessly drifting from place to place, searching for an answer. Yearning for peace.
Suddenly, a whisper called to her. An inkling of something promising. Lost and near madness, her spirit followed the call. A song filled her with each passing moment, wings felt light for the first time in her existence. No path marked the way but her destination couldn't be more clear. A passerby surely would have been lost amidst the vines and greenery...but this Skydancer couldn't be more confident in her steps.
Upon reaching the Heart of the Deep Brush, this Skydancer found herself face to face with the Gladekeeper. She braced herself for judgement, feeling an eerie calm wash over her. The leaves and sounds of the forest drifted away and for a moment there was nothing but the still of the air and the glow of what was to come.
"Young one." The Gladekeeper spoke barely above a whisper, but her words could not be more sharp and concise, "You have suffered so much at the hands of this world. I offer you a choice. Should you choose to accept, you will be given new life, a name, and a home to call your own."
The young Skydancer's chest filled with yearning...everything she had ever wanted lay before her.
"But know child, with this choice comes a price." The Gladekeeper warned, raising her claw to rest under the hatchlings chin, "You must serve your clan unwaveringly and with pride. You must do your duty in harboring the sick and not allowing them to be neglected as you were. You must guide those who lose their battle in my domain to the next life, and you must speak your name only to the mate you so choose. Do you accept these terms?"
The Skydancer could only nod. Having never had a family, she craved belonging. She yearned for family and for love. But most of all, she wanted to make sure no dragon had to suffer through what she had.
The Gladekeeper then took the hatchling into her arms and kissed her forehead, giving her life, a purpose, and a name.
A staff appeared before her in a whisp of smoke. "Take your instrument child, and with it perform your duty."
Enferma took the staff gratefully and now lives as a pillar of the Clan of the Deep Brush, a silent protector, and only reveals herself to her mate and to those who heed her call. She feels for the first time that she belongs and she could not be happier.
