Biography
Carnelian's mate, and head of Clan Mesacliff. He is the archivist who runs the library. Though he is a scholarly type who comes off as somewhat cold, he's actually very knowledgeable and talkative. He'll talk your head off about anything you want to hear about, and always happy to have a chat about your favorite books over tea. Usually found reorganizing the library's scrolls, archiving the clan's mundane day-to-day events, or perching on Carnelian's head when she's around.

(continued from Carnelian's bio)
He sat on the top of the cliff. His new eyes were fixed on the sunset, taking it in as though he wasn’t sure if this would happen again tomorrow.
The last words the voice had told him echoed in his head
The fact that the magic that created you happened to gather is a coincidence. But you seem like the kind of guy who had a purpose the moment he was created. I think you’d make a good supervisor… come to the Spire if you ever feel like being a more productive member of the flight.
What do those words even mean for me?
He huffed and settled a little closer to the ground. Isn’t it a little silly to worry about this when I’ve been alive for five minutes?
Something to ponder after a meal and a good night’s sleep, he supposes. He glides down to the pool of water below the cliff to pick off a few of the mosquito larvae wriggling in the shallows . As he raises his head, he sees a splotch of deep red wandering on the horizon
Am I not alone?
He sits cautiously, watching the dragon approach. They definitely see him now; they’re a mirror, four times his length. They could easily sprint up to him and bite him in half before his fragile wings allowed him to fly. He quietly steels himself to use his fledgeling magic.
They wander slowly up to him. He instinctively recognizes that their crests are in a relaxed, passive position.
“Can I help you?”
“Can I drink?”
He’s a little surprised. “Well, I don’t see why not.”
They lower their head immediately into the water and drink for what must have been a solid minute.
After shaking their head to get rid of any drops, they look at him again.
“So. What’s your name?”
“Topaz. And yours?”
They seem to go blank. “I.. haven’t thought about that enough. I’ll decide at some point.”
Silence. After a few minutes, the mirror again peers at him curiously and tries to keep the conversation going. “How long you been here?”
Figures we’d get to the strange stuff first, he thinks dryly. “About two hours.”
The mirror’s crests perk up. “Two hours?”
“Yes.”
“How long have you been alive?” they ask, almost enthusiastically.
“That’s an odd way to ask how old someone is,” he says. Their crests droop apologetically, but he answers before they can respond.
“Two hours.”
“Ah.. me too! How odd, two spontaneously created dragons meeting here!”
He nods a little, turning to look out into the last slivers of the sunset.
There’s silence between them for a moment as they both stare to the horizon.
“Do you think we’re… kindred spirits or something?”
“What?”
“You know.. like.. we were both created at the same moment? That we’re cosmically linked or something?” They peer at him curiously.
“I wouldn’t know. Besides, that’s a loaded question. For now, I think it’s more productive to focus on the here and now.”
“Oh yeah.. I guess so.”
With that, the final sliver of sun sinks below the dunes.
The mirror turns to look at the cliffs. “Now that the sun’s down, it’ll get cold fast. If we work together, we can carve a temporary den out of the cliffs to sleep in.”
He tilts his many fins in the fae equivalent of a smile.
“Lead the way.”
