LN · House Husband · Tyranny
He/Him
Heterosexual
Recovering LE, trying his best to learn to be less oppressive/harsh. Husband of Abame Banmeke, father to Edgar Crowley and Ptolemy Banmeke. Regrets most decisions he's made except the ones that led to the previous sentence. Despite the leaps and bounds he's made from his days as Tyranny, he still tends to innately side with the colonizing party rather than the oppressed party until Abame explains how the particulars of colonization and imperialism are innately harmful. Leaves all idealizations of the world up to Abame because he knows his idealized world is yet a LE/NE one, but understands that a LE/NE world causes more harm than good. Has trouble envisioning anything better than a LE/NE world.
XXXXThe son of the horsemen War and Famine, the word Tyranny meant nothing save for his name in the early ages, before his work upon the mortal plane began. There, he toyed with the idea of law that Culpireal pursued towards mortalkind, twisting it among dwarves, humans, elves, and orcs until the idea of a ruling appealed to the worst of them. He gave them the idea of controlling those they viewed as lesser, pitting each race, class, and country against one another until he found his name synonymous with the nations that followed those ideals.
XXXXHe served as a leader, as a general, as a soldier for many nations, many times at the behest of the devil, Lilliad, who took him as a lover after her fall. For her, he became a more lawful force, serving Asmodeus's agenda and her own. Together, they had many children with their mother's devil spawn heritage, none of whom survived the first age. Their son, Edgar, did survive, with his keener pursuit of importance and power and his father's daemon spawn heritage. It was with the two of them that he first took on the name Alexander Crowley to keep the name of Tyranny from becoming their legacy before they fully had their own.
XXXXHe served Beetlewood for Lilliad's gain in the region and began a long and strange friendship with Durg. Ultimately, Durg led Alexander to cast off his longstanding fealty to both his mother, War, and his eldest sister, Conquest. It was also Durg, who served as Alexander's reason to head off for new continents, where he ended up in the service of Highcross alongside his son. There, he remained until the rise of Elizabeth Wellmoore, whose revolt Alexander quietly aided.
XXXXIn Highcross, he served largely as a Spymaster as he had during his tenure in Beetlewood until Elizabeth sent him to the colonies in Oskrand as a General, overseeing the plot to further her sister, Arcadia's, death. His motives were complicated by Edgar's marriage to her, arranged by Solomon Maddux in an effort to undermine Alexander's efforts to kill her and install a loyalist quietly. It was then that he met Abame, in a half-considered "gift" from Hadrian for their conquest of the inner sea. He could neither bring himself to commit the acts Hadrian expected of a daemon nor to deny the gift out of perceived polite customs, and thus kept Abame as a prisoner of war (though he needed nothing from her) intending to quietly dismiss her once the war ended.
XXXXOver the year Abame was imprisoned as a house guest, the two fell in love, which led to Alexander both freeing her and admitting his history as Tyranny. Rather than blame him, Abame laid out a path to redemption for him. The two quietly married one another, a wedding presided over by Solomon Maddux, who, without question for Alexander's loyalty, did so under Abame's religion instead at Alexander's request. The two had a son together, Ptolemy Banmeke, his wife's surname instead of his own. It could have been perfect until his son began showing signs of being an oracle, an oracle of Horus no less. The two hid him as best they could until the phenomena were attributed to Abame instead.
XXXXAlexander begged Abame to let him hand over himself instead, to frame anyone else. Abame refused, executed for her perceived crimes by being burned at the stake, the torch given to Alexander to prove his loyalty. Alexander refused until he caught sight of Ptolemy making his way through the crowd, and the thought of having both his wife and son killed if Ptolemy was seen with her had him let her burn instead, quickly making his way out of the crowd with Ptolemy. Ptolemy never forgave him and later burned Alexander and an encampment of hellknights alive. Alexander, for his fiendish heritage, did not die and fled to Beetlewood for several years, where he remained until Timaern convinced him to return before he lost both his sons too. He told Alexander of Edgar's love for a member of Ptolemy's council and his efforts to convince Arcadia to rebel with Ptolemy.
XXXXHighcross prepared to come down upon both his sons; Groteus wrote Alexander the letter that convinced him to fight for Ptolemy's revolt. Groteus's letter outlined Hadrien's plan to assassinate Ptolemy's family, and Alexander went back to Bakhduat and did all he could to tear down all of the might he'd built for Highcross over his centuries of service. Once the war was done, Alexander spent his time making amends with Ptolemy and helping Edgar come to terms with Arcadia's death. Having done all he intended to do, Alexander intended to leave until the end of his life, only asking Ptolemy that he be buried next to Abame when his body was found someday.
XXXXPtolemy agreed but made Alexander agree to spend the next ten years of his life in Bakhduat to get to know his granddaughter, Olive. Alexander did and, at the end of the ten years, died peacefully in the night. Unaware that Ptolemy had denied Eiseth's efforts to force him to seek revenge, he found himself resurrected in hell by Lilliad alongside Abame as her heralds, gaining the moniker of the Effigy of Broken Night, though he cared little for it. Instead, his concern was only with dedicating the rest of his life to proving to Abame and himself that he was worthy of the love she still held for him after all her decades in hell, having bet against Beathal that he was more her Alexander than he was Lilliad's loyal Tyranny.
There is indeed nothing in this world or the next that Alexander loves more dearly than Abame. She is the beginning of all the good deeds he's ever committed, and all the love and care he remembers ever receiving. When she died, it was as though a piece of him was missing. Now that she's been resurrected, Alexander is certain he's whole again - just as he's certain that he's wholly committed to being the man she believes him to be. |
