Making so much, he never really felt a need to pick up and leave, so here he stays to this day. He even found a mate here, Raju, fighting by her side and enjoying her company. And then came Vitsaus, the Plague flight representative. Another dragon from his homeland, someone who he could possibly relate to more than the others in the clan. Sure, there were a lot of horrible rumors quickly spreading about the Imperial, but he was sure people said such things about him when he first came too. Plague dragons often get bad names for being misunderstood. And even if some of the rumors are true, it wasn't much of a concern for him. Much to Kultainen's disbelief, he soon found himself falling for the Plague representative and pursuing a secret relationship.

Maybe he should have paid more attention to the rumors about Vitsaus. He arrived to the Imperial's lair one night, to find that Vitsaus and his Imp mate were waiting for him. He didn't know much about Almandine other than that she was apparently mated to Vitsaus. Or so he had assumed. She always seemed so odd, though a very respectable fighter. He found out that night that she was with the other Imp for other purposes.

He had a feeling that he should have run from that lair, but stayed against his better judgement. Vitsaus gave him reassuring words, spoke of a plan, of experiments and rituals, of death and disease. Kultainen was needed. No, no harm would come to him, he was told. At least, nothing serious. Vitsaus did love him. He loved him a great deal. They would be together. Forget about his life before that night! Things were going to become so much greater!

So he went along with the plan, like a fool. He couldn't say what exactly had happened. He was so tired, his mind a fog, the pain intense. Almandine looked to be dying nearby, though he was told that this was her destiny. It's what is suppose to be. How long had this been going on? Time lost meaning. Through the maddening fog he hears a familiar voice.
