He'd been fighting for way too long.

He had holed himself up, back pressed against the cool stone of the cavern, trying to still his breathing enough to listen. He shifted, feeling pain lance through his side, a wheezing gasp escaping him. Perhaps this is what his mother had meant, when she had spoken about the group. The Organization. He hadn't understood, at first. Not really. But now...

All of his life, Auvrendar had known only the small fishing village he called home. The humans and elves he grew up alongside were his family. People came and went routinely, and his mother had always warned him about newcomers. Never trust too quickly. He didn't understand, and she didn't elaborate. She was nervous, but never let on why.

Auvrendar focused instead on what he knew- the way to feel a man's coinpurse to see how much was inside. How to slink into the shadows so passing predators simply... walked by. The weight of his knives, and how to throw them so they landed just right. His father didn't approve of such things, but his father was never around. And when his mother left him new throwing knives, or pointed out feathers for fletching, well, Auvrendar took it as a sign of acceptance.

She likely wouldn't accept this, though. Auvrendar glanced towards the cave's entrance, hearing the low murmur of voices. Newcomers had come to the village, as always, and his mother had left, as always. Auvrendar had not, but had noticed after a few days the new humans were all... watching him, a bit too keenly. He told himself it was because some humans were secluded- it was common enough that humans were left agape at the sight of elves.

However, when he got close enough to hear them whispering about him and "chosen blood," he figured it was time to leave.

That was.... a few months ago? Perhaps longer. Time flowed strangely when you were constantly on the run from and fending off mysterious people who wanted your blood. Time also flowed strangely when you were shot by one of the mysterious people, and had to hide in a cave. Auvrendar stared distantly at the arrow, which he'd thrown aside haphazardly. He didn't know what they wanted, and he really wasn't keen on finding out.

There was a loud noise, from the mouth of the cave, a sickening crunch and a scream. Auvrendar looked over, grunting as he gathered himself to his feet. He was in no state to fight, but he wasn't going to give up. There was another thudding noise, and the sense of something large working its way into the cave. A dragon of all things, long extinct and yet moving closer towards him, mouth partially open as the creature tasted the air.

Auvrendar tensed, raising one of his daggers, the dragon pausing. Someone stepped out from behind the dragon, peering up at Auvrendar- and sighed. "You're hurt-" The dark elf moved forwards, hands hovering fearfully over the litany of wounds, looking back up at Auvrendar again. "Please- let us take you up to the temple. We can heal you, there."

"And those guys?" Auvrendar's voice was raspy, and he felt it pull against his ribs. The dragon let out a small whine.

"Gone." The priest answered, frowning a bit more. "They won't hurt you again." He gestured hurriedly for Auvryndar to pull himself onto the dragon, the great creature scuttling out of the cave before leaping up into the air.

Auvryndar looked down, at the mouth of the cave, of what was left of those men- the Organization. And something in his heart whispered that this was nothing. That it would never stop.

Auvrendar has long since been with the dark Elves leaving often so that the organization wouldn’t go after them even tho he knew the elves were capable fighters. having become a formidable foe they have helped him learn to care for himself and treated him like family.

On occasion he misses his family and he occasionally interacts with them, but he’s skilled at sneaking and striking when they least expect it this is further helped by him being a Rogue and he has a goal in mind to help save any of his family.
