Biography

image00.png

There was a time when Olivia was a princess, destined for the throne in her kingdom on the edge of the Viridian Labyrinth. Her rather unique ability made her a prize to her own parents and they wanted nothing more than to exploit her and garner favour among the other kingdoms among the Nature Flight. Blinded by their own selfish desires, they stifled Olivia and refused to let her become her own person.

A princess must do as they’re told. A princess must behave this way.

No princess who wanted to get their wings dirty in the expansive courtyards would be able to govern a kingdom. No princess can spend their free time dancing under the trees.

All Olivia heard was ‘living this way will never be fun’.

So on the day of her Maturation Ceremony, Olivia scooped up a bag of her belongings and fled.

When you’re capable of growing and maniplating plant life through music, it should be something freely expressed and shared with others. Olivia believes that with her whole heart. And more than that, she feels that life in a stuffy Kingdom, forced into clothes she hates and attending dull ceremonies would be a soulless life. She’d hate it, grow to hate herself if she let it happen.

And she sure doesn’t want anyone to tell her who she must take as a mate.

At first, Olivia ventures further into the Viridian Labyrinth, being that it’s the only territory she knows. But one evening while enjoying a meal at a tavern, she overhears an old Mirror bloke at the bar talking about a great job he’s just taken and if anyone had seen a pretty little Coatl pass through.

Her parents had put a bounty on her head.

Though she’d thought it would happen, the proof hurts.

She makes a quick escape and after that, she makes certain to leave the confines of her homeland and go in search of a new beginning for herself. One where the people she surrounds herself with will respect and cherish her for who she is, not for the musical magic she weilds or the wealth that comes from being a part of a royal bloodline.

As she traverses into other regions, she knows instinctively that it isn’t far enough to escape the chase of bounty hunters.

She only has one option.

The Southern Icefield.

Her parents loathe the cold and think very poorly of the ice flight. It would never occur to them that she’d sully herself so far by seeking refuge among the frozen lands. So she trades her finest jewellery for warmer threads and makes the trek into the snow-dappled terrain of the ice dragons.

Olivia hadn’t meant to end up in a court; to run from one kingdom only to stumble into another. But Black Harte Court is nothing like the place she once called home. Everyone seems lively and oddly personable. Even their King, despite his colder disposition. They welcome her in without fuss and so long as she contributes in some way, she’s welcome to stay on as long as she likes.

But for now, she keeps her magic to herself. Olivia doesn’t want to be used or manipulated again for her power and though everyone seems kind enough, trusting comes less easily these days.
