Hermes toimii Cielaisen oikeana kätenä. Hän kulkee kuin ajatus halki Sorniethin välittäen viestejä ja suorittaen pieniä askareita, joihin Cielaisella ei ole aikaa. Hän on monitaituri eikä usein saa riittävästi kiitosta tekemisistään. Hermes on kuitenkin vaatimaton. Vaikka hän haaveilee joskus tulevansa paladiniksi, hän ymmärtää miten tärkeä työ hänellä on Cielaisen apurina.

Koska Hermes ei ole paladin, hän saattaa silloin tällöin vaihtaa sanan jos toisenkin Sorniethin enkeleiden kanssa. Hän pitää näitä ystävinään, eikä saata käsittää, miksi säännöt sanelevat, etteivät paladinit ja enkelit saisi olla tekemisissä keskenään.
