They may not admit it to themself yet, but they really like their friend Windfall. Their dad, Canteloupe, is also a traveling dragon. Emerald inherited their wanderlust from their dad, and their sensitivity and smarts from their mom. Emerald wishes to becomes a biologist someday, and their biggest hopes are to discover a new type of rose, and a new insect species.

Emerald's Bio: Feel free to write diary-style, or just quick stories.

One morning I woke up, curled next to my sisters Brightsky and Mist. My best friends, Windfall, Jay, and Tide were just one nest over. Windfall woke up suddenly, breathing hard. I rushed to her side. "Windfall, are you okay?" I asked cautiously. She uncovered her flowing eyes and looked up at me. "Oh, Emerald, you're here. I just had the weirdest dream." "Yeah?" I asked. Windfall cast her eyes down. "It's because of my stupid eyes. I know it is," she sighed. "Come on, Windfall, your eyes are beautiful. They're a gift." I smiled gently. "You're actually the best dragon," Windfall grinned, punching me lightly in the shoulder. The runes on her angled face tinged to a rose color. "Anway... in my dream, I was in a shifting field of bamboo. Mist swirled around me, then a green dragon glided down towards me." I feel myself getting lost in Windfall's rythmic voice. She goes on to explain that the dragon in her dream was the Windsinger. He told her that she, I, Jay, Tide, Mist, and Brightsky were destined to help keep the Windswept Tableau as vibrant and strong as it ever was. At the end of her story, tears congeal in Windfall's swirling eyes. "I hate these eyes. I hate them. Dragons look at me wherever I go. And apparently it makes me "special" but for what? A prewritten destiny." I gently clasp one of Windfall's talons in mine. "Windfall, you have to understand that you are strong. And if you want, you can find your own way. You don't have to listen to Windsinger. I mean, the dude's kinda creepy anyway. Who is he, even? This creepy dude who knows all, sees all, and floats around in the sky bestowing destinies on random dragons? I wouldn't listen to that." Windfall laughs softly. She touches her snout to mine and closes her eyes. " Thanks, Emerald. You're a great dragon, I really value you." An idea forms in my mind as Windfall's breathing slows and evens out. I'll leave now, and forge a new path. One that all of us can take. After I check that Windfall's asleep, I whisper in her ear, "I don't know quite how to feel about you, Windfall. I like you, a lot. I really do. We laugh, and play, and each time is better than the last. But I need to prove to you that you're worth it, and that you're beautiful. So I have to leave. But don't worry. I'll come back someday."

Part Two:

Emerald's heart hammered in their throat. They floated down from the clouds and touched lightly down on a rippling field of grass, strong shoots of bamboo flowed in the wind. It was a quiet field, less busy than home. It was clear and empty. Practically lifeless.
"Hello?" Emerald called. this was the right place, right? Right...?
"Hey, you! Dragonet! What are you doing out here?"
A beautiful dragoness sprinted over the hill, her face contorted into a look of confusion and fear. Her soft round snout gently pushed into Emerald's side as she finally reached the small dragonet on the hill. Emerald jumped back and shrank into a self-protection ball of orangey green fury. They were NOT going out like this. If Emerald was ever going to die, it would be in a spiraling tornado of protection, saving Windfa- somedragon.
"Get back! I may be small, but my claws are sharp!"
"Ugh. You sound just like a Tangled Hope ruffian. Maybe I should leave you here for them," she snorted, glancing down at Emerald dissaprovingly.
"The what? I'm sorry, I'm new here. I wish I knew what to do... Do you have, like... A book? For uh... Tangled Hope?" They murmered under their breath.
"Hm... A curious dragonet. Tell me, do you like libraries?" She asked, her half rimmed glasses glinting in the afternoon sunlight.
"I-I suppose so." Emerald was startled by the dragon's new shift in temperament. "Why?"
"I own a library. I'm looking for a temporary assistant while I wait for my typical assistant to heal up. I suppose you could stay with me, if that's alright."
"That would be great!"
Maybe I can find some records of other dragonets with primal eyes like Windfall in her library. I'll be back home soon, Windfall...

Part Three:

The dragoness flicked her head as if to say "follow me," before turning around and hurrying on her way. Emerald scurried to keep up- they may be fast, but they were still only a dragonet. Maybe following some stranger through a field might not have been the best idea, but Emerald liked books. Books had answers. Emerald needed answers. And the dragoness sounded fairly honest.
The library was stationed in an old, worn down building, yet it still seemed as if it was kept up with. Everything was tidy. While the planks were worn and what must have been brown at some point had faded into grey, Emerald felt as if this was one of the most well-kept buildings theyhad seen in quite some time. When the door was opened, Emerald expected a creak, but there was almost no sound at all.
And woah. Emerald had never felt so at home. There were stacks upon stacks of books, with shiny, polished covers. The smell of old, crinkled pages was strong, but not so much that Emerald felt like sneezing. That had happened once.
"...can I...?" Emerald started. The dragoness chuckled,
"Well, sure, after you've helped me tidy up! You're my assistant, remember?"
The words were a bit too harsh for Emerald's liking, but they were spoken with some strange sort of fondness, so they really didn't mind.
"O-oh, yeah! Sorry." The dragoness chuckled again.
"Well, stranger, It's about time we exchanged names. Arliin." The dragoness tilted her head in greeting. Emerald grinned, before exchanging the gesture.
"Emerald!"
