Valerian was the cleverest child of Arendel and Einior. She was able to remember every single moment of her life from the moment she hatched. She found great satisfaction in recording every detail she could remember- be it in the form of writing, drawing or weaving.

Soon after she set out on her own she discovered the fascinating world of botany and fell deeply in love. Something as simple as a flower could hold so many meanings; love, death, passion, contempt. A slice of root or handful of leaves could hold the potential for a deadly poison or miraculous cure. Valerian was enamored.

She has since learned to incorporate her fascination into her other crafts, delicately embroidering curling ferns onto linens, mixing sweet scented petals into pulp to create paper, brewing her own jewel-toned inks from berries and bark.

Valerian is well known across the field of botany for her intricate illustrations and detailed manuscripts, and has discovered the hidden value of many plants long thought to be useless. She is largely retired now, but continues to use the royalties from her books to expand her greenhouse and research rarer specimens. She also owns a small flower shop in town, run by her old friend Spice, and can usually be found chatting with her there on the rare occasions she leaves her greenhouse.
