The Voices are what she noticed first. Even in her egg, she heard them. Different from the soft, kind tones of her parents, these were more frantic, urgent. And they didn't stop once she'd hatched. They actually increased and eventually the visions started. First, she'd just catch something out of the corner of her eye - a shadow, maybe a flicker of light. Then, as she grew older, whole dragons emerged from the shadows. Pained faces, tortured souls. Wanting something from her. But what? The voices never made sense. She couldn't make out what they were saying, like hearing a conversation from the other side of the cavern wall... And nobody in her clan had these gifts. She had no one to teach her how to help these whips of dragons who once were. And so, Kailea lit out on her own hoping to find others who could train her to use the powers she was born with and put them to use.
Avragast Academy - Kailea had heard stories about an Arcane Clan hidden deep in the Crystalspine Mountains that if found, might help her with her 'issues' and decided to try and find it. She searched and searched amongst the curving peaks, marveling at the crystal formations and straining to get the faintest glimpse of the Observatory through the clouds.
"You won't find it." The words seemed to come from the clouds themselves so camouflaged was the quickly descending mirror. Hovering just above Kailea, she shouted: "You need a guide and I see you have no letter of reference. I can't help you. Come back when you have one. Good luck, young mystic."
"Wait! What's your name? Where do I get a letter of reference?" Kailea shouted.
Straining her ears, Kailea thought she heard "I am Lenx. Find the Witch Doctor, Attila. He might help you."
